"K.K. Cruisin'" is a K.K. Slider song that first appears in Doubutsu no Mori. Noted for its slow tempo, whistling synth, and hip-hop beat, it appears to be based on G-funk, a subgenre of hip-hop that emerged during the early 1990s and remained popular throughout the decade. The live performance version may take inspiration from funk band Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity", which shares some of the chord progressions.

In New Horizons, K.K.'s pose was changed, and he now wears aviator sunglasses. The cover appears to take inspiration from English R&B artist Mark Morrison's 1996 album Return of the Mack. The text at bottom-left position is illegible in New Leaf, while in New Horizons, it reads "K.K. Cruisin'" atop a red wax seal.
