"Animal City" is a K.K. Slider song that first appears in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The song is a cover of music played in the city in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

The album cover for "Animal City" depicts a pastel sketch of the city. K.K. Slider performs by the fountain of Serena, while Bunnie, Mint, Monique, and Wolfgang watch. The GracieGrace and auction house buildings are visible in the back. Lily and Kicks, the latter in his City Folk design, are also seen on the right side of the cover. "Animal City" is written in orange script at the top.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, "Animal City" can only be heard live if the player makes an invalid song request.

In New Horizons

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, "Animal City" is a secret song that can only be heard and obtained by request. It is played in the houses of Bettina, Gala, and Gloria, who all debuted in Animal Crossing: City Folk. The aircheck of this song can be obtained from one of these villagers after visiting their house by their favor.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise, "Animal City" is played in the houses of Billy, Freya, Hornsby, and Merengue.

In other media

Prior to "Animal City" becoming a K.K. Slider song in New Leaf, a version of the city music from City Folk with vocals by K.K. Slider appears on the soundtrack CDs Machi e Ikou yo Doubutsu no Mori ~Mori no Ongakukai~ and Animal Crossing: Your Favorite Songs - Original Soundtrack under the name "Town Square (K.K. Live Version)". The track is identical to what would later be used in New Leaf, except it is slightly faster and lower quality.

Trivia

• In regards to the track included as a live performance on the soundtrack CD, composer Kazumi Totaka said in an interview in Nintendo DREAM Vol. 182 that he envisioned K.K. playing the song in the city square, sitting in front of the fountain. This is exactly what would be depicted on the album cover in New Horizons.
