e-Reader Cards[edit]

Thank you for uploading higher-quality versions of the K.K. Rally and Marine Song 2001 e-Reader cards. Did you scan these yourself or obtain it from somewhere online? It would be helpful to know so the source can be added to the file info fields. HylianAngel (talk) 23:22, April 20, 2021 (EDT)

I found them online a few months ago. I don't recall the source exactly but I believe they were Japanese shopping websites. One was Suruga-Ya. At some point I probably intend to scan even higher quality versions since I do own them. Chubby Bub (talk) 23:31, April 20, 2021 (EDT)
I see, thank you for the info! I tried checking out Suruga-Ya, but I was only able to find a low-quality version there for some reason. I also found a slightly different version on Tumblr, they posted a lot of e-cards in their "#e card" tag. But I can't seem to find these particular ones. HylianAngel (talk) 23:44, April 20, 2021 (EDT)
A reverse image search yielded that Marine Song 2001 is indeed from Suruga-Ya. I couldn't find where I got K.K. Rally though. Chubby Bub (talk) 00:16, April 21, 2021 (EDT)
Ah yes! I didn't realize it, but there's a link that can be clicked below the small picture that shows that high-quality version. Thanks again for the help, I added the source to the image's file info. HylianAngel (talk) 00:20, April 21, 2021 (EDT)
And it looks like K.K. Rally is from the same website, clicking the link below the small picture. HylianAngel (talk) 00:23, April 21, 2021 (EDT)

Patroller?[edit]

Just a quick question: do you have any interest in becoming part of the Nookipedia staff? I've just noticed that you've been productive for a while now and I think you'd make a good fit as a Patroller. I'd be happy to nominate you, so please let me know if you accept (this isn't mandatory, so no problem if not). Thank you, and keep contributing! Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 12:46, October 12, 2021 (EDT)

Thank you for the offer! I'll have to think about it, so no for now, at least… Chubby Bub (talk) 23:19, October 12, 2021 (EDT)
Upon further consideration, I think I could do it and would find good use of the tools, so I will graciously accept your nomination offer. Chubby Bub (talk) 02:42, November 10, 2021 (EST)
I'm very sorry about my late response, but you are now finally nominated! :) Good luck! Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 11:36, November 21, 2021 (EST)

Question[edit]

Excuse me, Mr Chubby Bub, I would like to find out how to create templates?? You're a patroller and I decided to ask. SylveonAvatar.pngToadetteFan007SylveonAvatar.png 05:49, January 8, 2022 (EST)

Hi! What kind of template are you looking to create? Chubby Bub (talk) 16:12, January 8, 2022 (EST)

Playback error[edit]

Hello. I’ve been looking at the KK songs pages and noticed that the media player is working for the air check but always saying “Error” when I tried to play the live files. Don’t know if this is just for me or a more general problem but I thought I’d let you know. Thanks! 2A00:23C7:5A96:8201:A033:FF2E:325:634F 06:20, March 26, 2023 (EDT)

Thanks for letting me know. I've actually seen this too but only on certain devices, I had forgotten about it. It looks like this might be a problem with the original uploads by User:ShadeTempest, as the 2.0 songs don't have this problem. I'll look into it and possibly reupload.
Also, as a note, when leaving messages about a new topic on a talk page, you should create a new header surrounded by two equals signs

City Folk Gyroids[edit]

Hello. Could you help me create a cargo table for Template:CFGyroids?

TheMajesticPineapple (talk) 16:46, August 26, 2023 (EDT)
Thanks for reaching out. I'm afraid I'm not very skilled with Cargo, but I would encourage you to ask one of the people listed at Nookipedia:Cargo Technicians. Chubby Bub (talk) 20:05, August 26, 2023 (EDT)
Ok, thank you!
TheMajesticPineapple (talk) 10:32, August 27, 2023 (EDT)

Um... so...[edit]

I applied for patroller. Can you please leave a positive vote? Nookipedia:Staff/Apply ACL.png Acnh Player (talk) ACL.png 22:53, April 13, 2024 (EDT)

Source for composer credit[edit]

Hi, I'm an editor on VGMdb/MusicBrainz. I noticed recently someone made an edit to the "K.K. Bossa" track listing Toru Minegishi as the composer and they referenced your edit as the source. However, on the second New Horizons soundtrack release that track is attributed to Kazumi Totaka. Do you have a source for your Toru Minegishi credit?

Hi! I'm glad you reached out. Composer credits for the Animal Crossing series are a passion of mine that Nintendo has, like many of its games, made unfortunately tricky. However, this is based on several interviews corroborating that for nearly all K.K. Slider songs in the first-generation games, Toru Minegishi, who was responsible for "indoor music", first created the aircheck (instrumental) versions, and then Kazumi Totaka rearranged (and expanded upon) them for K.K. Slider's live performances.
In this interview, Minegishi discusses composing "over 50" of these instrumental tracks in various genres:

During the development of Animal Crossing, I was in charge of composing K.K. Slider’s “present music.” I needed to create more than 50 different musical tracks! It had to be from all kinds of musical genres, and it also had to sound like it was played on some cheap keyboard! I had no problem composing music from genres I was already familiar with, but I couldn’t create tunes from more than 50 different genres just using my imagination. I needed to study hard and learn about a variety of music to complete the project, and it was a very tough job to squeeze all that information into my head. In order to respond to these types of needs, it’s important for sound designers to be familiar with various kinds of music.

In this interview, Totaka said that he left the majority of the composition up to the three composers working under him as sound director, and more relevantly: (rough translation via DeepL)

The others took a year to do it, but I was a little different. I was in charge of arranging and developing already existing songs. 58 songs had to be made in 2 weeks, and I didn't have much time, so I was already working on them on the train or something (laughs).

Note that in this translation by shmuplations, the translator, presumably not knowing about Minegishi, translated this as "I re-arranged compositions I had already made.", as without context this could also be a feasible translation.
Lastly, and I haven't even updated this wiki on this (I'll do so soon), in an interview in Vol. 100 of Nintendo DREAM about Doubutsu no Mori e+, Totaka made the same claim about "someone else" creating the instrumentals for the new game as well, which he then rearranged. I own a physical copy of this issue, so it is not easy information to come by.
From all this, we can infer that for most of the first 70 K.K. Slider songs, Minegishi composed them and Totaka rearranged the live versions. I say most because K.K. Song is evidently Totaka's Song, and the last three "invalid request songs", My Place, Forest Life and To the Edge had only live versions until e+. (Though Forest Life is a rearrangement of the Title theme, which was composed by Kenta Nagata.) The other exception is Marine Song 2001, which was taken from Doubutsu no Mori+ and almost certainly composed by Totaka, who has been credited for all Kapp'n's other songs including ones that were rearrangements of this.
Minegishi has also received more specific credits affirming this in various places, including K.K. Bossa on the Touch Generations soundtrack. I would encourage you to read the pages I have written on this wiki on each composer which includes as many credits as I could find for each of them and a source (pending the aforementioned update on e+). This ended up being a rather long response but I hope it helps you. Chubby Bub (talk) 04:16, April 14, 2024 (EDT)
