Smashville is a stage in the Super Smash Bros. series that was originally based on Animal Crossing: Wild World. It debuted in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Villager has to be fought on this stage when unlocking him outside of World of Light in Ultimate.
Smashville is one of the few legal stages for competitive play in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Layout[edit]
Smashville is set hovering over an Animal Crossing town, complete with various features of a Wild World town. A smaller, hovering platform moves across the stage for players to stand on. The time of day the fight takes place in is reflected by the system's internal clock, meaning that depending on the time of day, players may fight the stage in the morning, noon, evening, or at night.
Several Animal Crossing characters are spectators, watching the fight take place. Notable spectators include Brewster with a coffee bar, Gracie with her car, and Blathers, who is always asleep during the day. K.K. Slider also makes an appearance to play a selected number of his songs every Saturday after 8:00 PM, drawing the attention of the spectators. Occasionally, a small, red balloon will sometimes fly across the stage carrying a piece of food, releasing the food when popped, like in the Animal Crossing series. Various things from the games can also be seen in the background, like constellations, Kapp'n's taxi and UFOs.
While the stage is meant to be based on a Wild World town, there are four bridges in comparison to the two the player can only have on their town. In Wild World, the Able Sisters shop is always directly east of Nook's, however their shops are separated from each other.
Several visual changes were made in its Ultimate incarnation, with bridges redesigned to resemble City Folk bridges, and buildings and trees designed to closer resemble New Leaf.
Smashville's Ω form removes the moving platform, any of the background characters, and balloons, while its Ω form in Ultimate resizes the main platform to resemble Final Destination. Smashville's Battlefield form features three soft platforms that resemble the moving platform. If hazards are off in Ultimate, then balloons will not appear and the moving platform will move from the right to the center and stop for the remainder of the fight.

Trivia[edit]
- In Animal Crossing games prior to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, towns can have only eight letters. Smashville has ten, which means it cannot be used as an actual town name. However, the Japanese name (すま村) was always available as the town's name. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the character limit has been increased to ten, making Smashville a possible town name.
- The four houses scattered across the stage background are based on four of twenty potential villager house exteriors in Animal Crossing: Wild World. From left-to-right:
- Only Bones, Drake, Kiki, Monique, Puddles, Queenie, Tank, or Twiggy can live in the beige house in the upper-left corner.[1]
- Only Aurora, Blaire, Joey, Moe, Rocco, or Samson can live in the purple house in the middle-left.[2]
- Only Agent S, Benedict, Elmer, Friga, Gwen, Lucy, Nana, Pango, Pompom, or Teddy can live in the aqua and red-violet house in the upper-right corner.[3]
- Only Amelia, Anabelle, Baabara, Bill, Cesar, Derwin, Peanut, Purrl, or Tabby can live in the house with a green roof in the lower-right corner.[4]
