"K.K. Marathon" is a K.K. Slider song that first appears in Doubutsu no Mori e+. Its main instruments are an electric music box, a vibraphone, and a drum, in emulation of Indonesian gamelan music. Specifically, it is inspired by Balinese gamelan techniques, such as the fast-paced kotekan texture in the second half of the aircheck.

Album cover[edit]

Album cover in Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The album cover for "K.K. Marathon'" features Midge and Maple (Madam Rosa and Carrot in the Doubutsu no Mori e+ e-Reader card) dancing in the foreground as K.K. Slider and Moe play a pair of Balinese gangsa in the background. In the e-Reader card, the text at the bottom left reads the Japanese title "けけガムラン" (Keke gamuran). There is no text on the New Leaf cover, but in New Horizons, there is text at the top which reads "K.K. Marathon." The cover image is now framed in a blue hexagon on a yellow background. Midge and Maple's appearances are also updated to reflect their current designs in this game.

Trivia[edit]

This section contains unconfirmed information or speculation.
  • The title "K.K. Marathon" is seemingly irrelevant to the actual song. It has been speculated by the community[1][2] that the name came from a localization error where the Japanese song title "gamuran" was interpreted not as "gamelan" but "game run," which was then localized as "Marathon."
