"Extra Song 1"[1] is the first of three K.K. Slider songs that K.K. will play if the player makes an invalid song request in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Internally in-game and in official Japanese soundtrack releases, the name of the song is はずれ01 (Hazure01). Hazure is a Japanese word for "miss" or "failure," referring to the song's function in-game.

"Extra Song 1" is a rearrangement of the title theme used in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, playing the melody twice with a bridge in between. It is the fifth invalid/secret song to be a rearrangement of a background track from one of the games in the series, the others being "Forest Life," "Spring Blossoms," "K.K. Island," and "Animal City."[nb 1]

Appearances[edit]

In New Horizons[edit]

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, "Extra Song 1" can be heard if the player makes a song request K.K. Slider and inputs something that does not match with any of his songs, as can the other two invalid songs, "Extra Song 2" and "Extra Song 3." Following the pattern of past invalid songs, these invalid songs will most likely become obtainable secret songs, likely with new non-placeholder names, in the next game in the Animal Crossing series.

This section contains information about unused content that cannot be seen through normal gameplay.

The invalid songs have respective unobtainable items that, if placed in a music player via gameplay modification, will not play and default to the placeholder name けけロックとゆかいななかまたち (Keke rokku to yukai na nakama-tatchi, K.K. Rock and Happy Friends). In the player's inventory, the item's name will display as はずれ01 regardless of language. Its internal song number is #901, which is likely a placeholder, as there are only 107 obtainable songs in New Horizons.

Due to being an invalid song, "Extra Song 1" does not have a mood for the purpose of requesting it from K.K. However, the karaoke system, which uses a song's mood to display images on its screen, is programmed to have the "Laid-back." mood as this song's image, despite the song not actually being able to be played on it.

Notes[edit]

  1. "Marine Song 2001" is also a rearrangement of Kapp'n's Song from Doubutsu no Mori+, however it was never a secret or invalid song.
