Jolly Redd's Treasure Trawler is a store introduced in the April Free Update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It is owned and run by Redd, replacing Crazy Redd's from prior games. The exterior of the boat has a green and brown striped awning covering the hull. The deck itself has various decorations such as ropes, boxes, posts, and Redd's logo on a flag.

Function[edit]

The boat docks at the secret beach at the rear of the island, and usually comes either once or twice a week. In order for the player to access the boat, they will need a ladder, which the recipe is obtained from Tom Nook. The player can also construct inclines or remove cliffs using the cliff construction permit.

Inside the boat, Redd sells four works of art that can be donated to the art gallery in the museum. However, like in previous games, there is the chance Blathers determines the piece as a forgery (any or all of the available art pieces can be forgeries). Only one piece of artwork can be purchased per day, even if purchased at another island, and it will be delivered to the player's home the following day. Redd also sells a random selection of two furniture items, possessing color variations not normally available at Nook's Cranny. These do not count toward the player's one art piece and are in unlimited supply, but cost 1.5x more Bells than the item's usual price.

Authentic art odds[edit]

There are four art pieces available for sale on Jolly Redd's Treasure Trawler, all costing 4,980 Bells. These artworks will consist of between two and four paintings, and zero to two sculptures.

Each artwork may be authentic or a fake:

  • 10% chance of 1 fake, 3 real
  • 30% chance of 2 fake, 2 real
  • 50% chance of 3 fake, 1 real
  • 10% chance of 4 fake, 0 real

Furthermore, for each real item there is a 20% chance of it being a guaranteed non-donated artwork.

Trivia[edit]

  • Some paintings can't be forgeries like the dynamic painting and the flowery painting
  • While it's the most well-known, Jolly Redd's Treasure Trawler isn't the only place Redd sells art.
    • The other place is a permanent shop in the plaza of Harv's Island
  • Unlike previous games, the name of forgeries will not change when they are revealed to be fake.
