Special visitor schedules[edit]
In the first-generation games[edit]
- For a list of all special characters in the first-generation Animal Crossing games, see Animal Crossing/Characters.
In the first-generation Animal Crossing games, each time the game is loaded, one of five special visitors is scheduled to appear in town between two and seven days in the future. The five visitors are Gracie, Katrina, Redd, Saharah, and Wendell. The town's Field Rank changes the frequency at which these visitors come to town: at the lowest rank, one visitor comes every two to seven days, and the range decreases by one day for each rank, until a visitor is guaranteed every two days at the highest two ranks. When spoken to, Copper tells the player who the next visitor will be and when they will arrive.
K.K. Slider and Joan are guaranteed to appear every Saturday night and Sunday morning, respectively. Gulliver is also guaranteed to appear on one random weekday each week.
Wisp, Tortimer, and Blanca, who were all introduced in Doubutsu no Mori+, can appear any day of the week and only show up once certain conditions have been met.

Once the bridge is built, he never visits town in this fashion again. | Walking in a random river acre | 7 AM – 12 AM | 15 villagers are living in town, Tortimer is not already in town for an event or away on vacation, and Gulliver is not currently visiting. |
Villager who has moved to another town | Talks to the player about their time in town and their life in their new town. After speaking to a player once, they do not appear again for that player. After speaking to all players in town, the villager leaves town. | Wandering in a random acre | 2 PM – 12 AM (Sun) 6 AM – 12 AM (Mon–Fri) 6 AM – 7 PM (Sat) |
The villager moved to another town in the past 60 days, Gulliver is not currently visiting, and Tortimer is not currently visiting to build a bridge. |
Wisp |
Asks the player to find his five spirit pieces; he thanks them by either pulling all the weeds in the town, painting the player's roof, or giving them a random item not already in their catalog. He will reappear each subsequent night for up to seven nights if all of his spirits are not returned to him. | Wandering in a random acre | 12 AM – 4 AM | 2–4 days have passed since the town reached a total of 8 weeds. |
In Wild World[edit]
- For a list of all special characters in Animal Crossing: Wild World, see Animal Crossing: Wild World/Characters.
In Animal Crossing: Wild World, one special visitor is scheduled to appear each day from Monday to Friday. On two weekdays, the town will receive a random visitor, which can be Dr. Shrunk, Gracie, Gulliver, Katrina, Pascal, Saharah, or Wendell. None of these visitors can appear twice in the same week. One day of the week is reserved for Redd's visit, and this day can be changed by talking to Lyle. On days where none of the aforementioned special visitors are scheduled, Pete will fly over town at 9 AM or 5 PM.
Like in Animal Crossing, some special visitors appear at a set time each week. Lyle can be found outside the player's house on Saturdays from 6 AM to 6 PM, while Joan can be found in town selling turnips on Sunday mornings. K.K. Slider appear in The Roost on Saturdays from 7:30 PM to 12 AM (he will not perform before 8 PM).
If the player visits another town or allows a friend into town after opening their gate, Katie, Kaitlin or Blanca can appear. Blanca can only appear if the player allows the "mysterious cat" to visit via the telephone in the attic.
Only one special visitor can appear at a time in Wild World. This will cause a special visitor to not appear if its appearance conflicts with another visitor. During Bright Nights, Flower Fest and Acorn Festival, Tortimer or Cornimer will be outside the Town Hall all week, preventing appearances from all other special visitors except K.K. Slider and Mr. Resetti.
In New Horizons[edit]
- For a list of all special characters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, see Animal Crossing: New Horizons/Characters.
Once the island is established, there can be one special visitor on the island each day (other than Celeste and Wisp, one or both of whom can appear any night). Certain visitors will set up a booth in the Resident Services Plaza while most others will wander throughout the island during their visit. Only Daisy Mae and K.K. Slider are (usually) guaranteed a specific day each week, Sunday and Saturday respectively. Several visitors are not guaranteed to appear every week, but those who don't visit one week will have priority for the following week. A week's schedule is determined at the beginning of the week. Before the 1.3.0 update, Kicks, Saharah, and Leif had guaranteed appearances each week, while K.K. Slider performed on Friday if there was an event scheduled for Saturday.
There may be exceptions to these criteria if there are special events during the week, which may include a character visiting multiple times. For example, C.J. could potentially appear as a weekday visitor as well as the host of the Fishing Tourney if scheduled for that Saturday. K.K. will also typically make an extra visit for a player's birthday if it doesn't coincide with his regular weekly visit.
