Valentine's Day is an event in the Animal Crossing series that occurs on February 14.
Appearances[edit]
In Doubutsu no Mori and Doubutsu no Mori+[edit]
On February 14 in Doubutsu no Mori and Doubutsu no Mori+, all female villagers in town send male players a letter with a gift for Valentine's Day. One month later, on March 14, all male villagers in town send female players a letter with a gift for White Day. This is a reflection of how Valentine's Day is traditionally celebrated in Japan; women give men gifts on Valentine's Day, and men give women reciprocal gifts on White Day.
Villagers only send letters if the player has spoken to them. The attached item varies based on the player's friendship level with that villager and is the same for both Valentine's Day and White Day:
- Max friendship – random raffle furniture
- Friendship value of 80 or more – random furniture from the town's rare group
- Friendship value of less than 80 – random clothing from the town's common group
White Day does not appear in Dòngwù Sēnlín.
In Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+[edit]
In Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+, White Day is removed, and all players are sent letters with gifts from every villager on Valentine's Day. The gifts received are the same as in Doubutsu no Mori and Doubutsu no Mori+.
A week or two before Valentine's Day, villagers begin to hint that they are going to send chocolates to a special someone. Pete, the mailman, also advises everyone to clear their mailboxes.
In Wild World[edit]
Although Valentine's Day does not appear in Animal Crossing: Wild World, items were sent by Nintendo over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in celebration of Valentine's Day in 2006 and 2007. On February 14, 2006, Chocolates were distributed in Japan, and a lovely loveseat was distributed in North America. On February 12, 2007, a lovely chair was distributed in North America.[1]
In City Folk[edit]
In Animal Crossing: City Folk, the player may receive a letter from a villager on Valentine's Day that contains a chocolate heart. Additionally, Brewster serves hot chocolate at The Roost instead of coffee.
A week before Valentine's Day, a bulletin board notice appears announcing the event.
In addition to the event itself, multiple Valentine's Day-themed items were distributed to player's via WiiConnect24. From February 14 to 26, 2009, a chocolate heart was distributed in Japan, from February 7 to 21, 2010, a cupid bench was distributed in North America, and from February 22 to 28, 2010, a flower bouquet was distributed in South Korea.[2]
In New Leaf[edit]
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the player receives a letter from Isabelle on Valentine's Day that contains a chocolate cake, as well as a chocolate heart from villagers of the opposite gender if they have high friendship with them. Additionally, Mom sends a letter that contains either a cacao tree, uncommon shirt (if the player is male), or spring shirt (if the player is female).
Like in City Folk, Brewster serves hot chocolate instead of coffee on Valentine's Day.
In New Horizons[edit]
While initially absent from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Valentine's Day was added in the 1.7.0 Free Update. On Valentine's Day, villagers with high friendship, as well as Isabelle, will send the player a letter attached with either a chocolate heart or a heart-shaped bouquet. In addition, the player can purchase a chocolate heart and a heart-shaped bouquet from Nook Shopping as part of a seasonal Valentine's Day event from February 1 to 14.
In 2.0 Free Update, Brewster serves hot chocolate instead of coffee on Valentine's Day. He will also wish the player a happy Valentine's Day after drinking.
In Pocket Camp[edit]
In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, on February 13 the player will receive valentine chocolate. On Valentine's Day itself, villagers will congratulate the player.
