A One Day Sale is an event in every first-generation Animal Crossing game that can occur on any day. It shares the same schedule as the visitors Gracie, Katrina, Redd, Saharah, and Wendell. These five visitors and the One Day Sale are all classified internally as "special events", and one of the six is chosen every two to seven days.[nb 1] Because of this, a One Day Sale cannot occur while one of these visitors is in town. The day before the event, Tom Nook sends the player a letter informing them of the sale. The sale lasts one hour and can begin anytime between 12 PM and 7 PM.

On the day of the sale, Tom Nook's store follows a special schedule, operating normally most of the day but closing for one hour before and after the sale. For example, if the sale runs from 3 PM to 4 PM, the store will be open until 2 PM, closed from 2 to 3 PM, open for the sale until 4 PM, closed from 4 to 5 PM, and open again for the remainder of the day.

During the sale, Tom Nook gives the player a free balloon beginning in Doubutsu no Mori+. He also has one or two rare items for sale, depending on the size of the store. In Doubutsu no Mori, Doubutsu no Mori+, and Animal Crossing the actual store shelves are empty, but in Doubutsu no Mori e+, they stock various flooring, wallpaper, and umbrellas, in addition to festive handheld items including balloons, pinwheels, fans and crackers.

Notes[edit]

  1. 1.0 1.1 2-7 is the maximum date range. Increasing the town's Field Rank will gradually shorten the range, until one of the six "special events" is guaranteed every two days.
