The portable radio is a miscellaneous furniture item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As a miscellaneous item, it can be placed on either the ground or on the surfaces of tables and other similar furniture items that have surfaces for items. The item will play random K.K. Slider songs, alternated with jingles based on the title theme, and spoken Animalese reminiscent of a real-world radio broadcast. When interacted with, the currently playing song (if any) will be shown. As an outdoor item, it will provide an additional 0.5 development points towards the island rating.

The portable radio is one of the default items in the player's tent, alongside the lantern. The item's color can be customized by Cyrus at Harv's Island for 1,000 Bells.

This item appears as a furniture item in the homes of Al, Anabelle, Barold, Boots, Boyd, Caroline, Cobb, Cole, Eunice, Flora, Freckles, Gaston, Hans, Hopper, Ike, Jacob, Jay, Mac, Merengue, Nate, Olive, Rex, Ricky, Rocco, Rolf, Spork, Sylvia, Tank, Tom, and Zucker. As a result, this item has a chance to be purchasable by the player if they were invited by any of the preceding villagers. It also appears in the two starting villagers' tents (and may carry over to their initial houses), and in the campsite when occupied.

In Happy Home Paradise, this item is unlocked for use in designing when doing a vacation home request for Angus, Apollo, Biskit, Boots, Cally, Camofrog, Dora, Hans, Kody, Leopold, Mac, Maple, Monty, Nana, O'Hare, Patty, Rocco, Rolf, Simon, Sly, Static, and Walker.
