Ione is a normal squirrel villager in the Animal Crossing series. She was added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons as part of the 2.0 Free Update on November 4, 2021, and she was added to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp between the announcement and release of the New Horizons update. The name "Ione" is Ancient Greek for the violet flower, and the name of a nymph in Greek Mythology, possibly referencing Ione's entire space theme. Her catchphrase, "gleam," may refer to stars shining in the sky, matching her space theme, or it may refer to how certain parts of her body glow in the dark.
In New Horizons, Ione has the fashion hobby and may be seen wearing a pink purse with a white flower on it, as well as a specific headwear or accessory item.
Characteristics
Appearance
Ione is a light blue squirrel with dark blue ears and a tuft of pale yellow hair. She has a dark blue tail covered in small light blue specks, which resembles a constellation of stars. She has pale yellow eyeshadow and two small pale yellow eyelashes on the bottom-outer side of each eye. When she is shocked, her eyes gain a light blue 4-pointed star in them. Her hands, feet, and the insides of her ears are aqua green, which produce bioluminescence when she is within a dark unlit environment.
Personality
Below is a brief description of the normal personality. For more information, click here.
Ione has a normal personality, so she will act shy, but caring toward the player. She will get along well with villagers of any personality type. She will have hygiene concerns, represented when the player visits her house, and she will state her embarrassment at the supposedly unclean appearance of her home. She will mention her interest in reading and the various books she reads. She also will enjoy writing and receiving letters.

House
In New Horizons
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, if Ione is one of the villagers who moved in during the main storyline after the villager house development quest, her house will have a combination of non-craftable furniture, plus items crafted by players during the island development storyline, primarily from the Wooden Series. She cannot have her initial house interior unless she moves out of the player's island or the Happy Home Paradise DLC is purchased, in which either the player or Isabelle can reset the interior.
