The Autumn Moon (known as the Harvest Moon Festival prior to Animal Crossing: City Folk) is an event the Animal Crossing series that occurs in either September or October.
The date of this event varies each year, as it occurs on the date of the full moon closest to the September Equinox.

In Doubutsu no Mori
In Doubutsu no Mori, during the Harvest Moon, the moon's reflection can be seen in the lake while villager stand and watch.
In Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+
Like in Doubutsu no Mori, during the Harvest Moon in Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+, the moon's reflection can be seen in the lake while villager stand and watch. Tortimer also appears by the lake and gives the player a Moon if spoken to. In the original Japanese release, he instead gives the player a Tsukimi Dango.
In Animal Crossing: City Folk
In Animal Crossing: City Folk, the Autumn Moon festival varies depending on the player's (or current host's) region. In the North American and European versions of the game, it is referred to as the Autumn Moon, while in the Japanese version, the event is referred to as Tsukimi (お月見 Otsukimi?).
Tortimer can be seen near the Town Hall from 6 AM to 12 AM. He will give the player a gift that is different for each region.
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Isabelle is present in the Plaza from 6 AM to 12 AM, and she will give the player a gift that is different for each region. The standee in the plaza is also different between regions. In Japanese versions, it is a table with dango on that is being overlooked by a mountain and a moon. In the North American version, it's a scarecrow in a farm field overlooking the Autumn Moon.
In the Japanese version, the event is referred to as Tsukimi (お月見 Otsukimi?), while the Korean version refers to it as Chuseok (추석 Chuseok).
