Content from the Animal Crossing series
Playable characters
Villager
Villager is a new fighter representing the Animal Crossing series in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. They are a starting character in both versions of Super Smash Bros. 4. They were formally revealed in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U first trailer, revealing alongside Mega Man and Wii Fit Trainer.
Villager makes use of several items, tools, and mechanics throughout the Animal Crossing series, including references to other games. Their neutral attack involves pulling out boxing gloves possibly referencing Punch-Out!. They use an Umbrella to swing as their forward tilt, waves a stick as their up tilt, and pulls weed out for their down tilt.
Their dash attack involves dropping a potted sapling which can hit opponents from afar. Their forward smash drops down a bowling ball, while their up smash causes them to summon a Fountain Firework. Meanwhile, their down smash uses their shovel to dig opponents down akin to the effects of a Pitfall. They fire using a slingshot as their forward and back aerial, and they occasionally swing one to three turnips as their up and down aerial. Finally, Villager pulls out a net as their grab, where they must swing their opponents away.
Special moves
Special | Move | Image | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Neutral Special | Villager's default neutral special. Whenever a fighter throws a projectile towards Villager, he immediately grabs the move into his Pocket. The Villager can then pull out the move to either hold it in their hand for use, or throw it back immediately. They must do so within 30 seconds, before the item/projectile disappears in their inventory. They can refresh items by reloading the 30 second timer from repeatedly using the move. Consumables like the Superspicy Curry and Food are used immediately. | ||
Garden | Villager's custom neutral special. Not only does it pocket projectile, any nearby opponents will be hit with a Flower effect that causes the opponent to continuously gain damage. | ||
Pocket Plus | Villager's custom neutral special. There is increased range that Villager can grab any projectiles from, but the pocketed projectile will deal less damage as of result. | ||
Side Special | Lloid Rocket | Villager's default side special. They fire a rocket that resembles Lloid, a Gyroid, and may choose to ride on it for a horizontal recovery move. Any fighters in the way will be hit as the rocket explodes. The move grants Villager attack range from afar, keeping their opponents in check. | |
Liftoff Lloid | Villager's custom side special. Instead of moving forward, the Lloid Rocket instead lifts upwards after a short period of time, granting Villager another vertical recovery. | ||
Pushy Lloid | Villager's custom side special. The Lloid Rocket is larger and will push fighters around before exploding. | ||
Up Special | Balloon Trip | Villager's default up special. They ride on two balloons color-coded to glide upwards for a period of time. Opponents can attack Villager's balloons however, which can leave them helpless. This move is based on Balloon Fight. | |
Extreme Balloon Trip | Villager's custom up special. The balloon explodes if burst by any opponents, dealing damage and giving Villager a boost when recovering. However, this move reduces the distance Villager can make vertically and horizontally. | ||
Balloon High Jump | Villager's custom up special. This move causes Villager to swing upwards at a great distance, but doesn't provide Villager a method to control the movement, thereby making horizontal recovery difficult. | ||
Down Special | Timber | Villager's default down special. It is a multi-step process that changes the actions that Villager performs. First, they'll plant a sapling on the ground. Next, a watering can is used to grow the sapling to a tree, which can also push fighters away. Finally, Villager pulls an axe out to chop down the tree to deal damage, and can also use the axe independently for significant damage. Occasionally, a woodchip will drop from the fallen tree, allowing for quick, but weak damage. Fruit will also drop, giving Villager a health recovery. | |
Timber Counter | Villager's custom down special. The sapling will cause opponents to trip, and the tree reflects some damage to any opponents that hits the tree. However, the tree, when cut, deals less damage and knockback. | ||
Super Timber | Villager's custom down special. Each step gains a boost in their power, but are much longer to complete. The watering can is able to push fighters far away due to the larger sprout. The tree is larger and will deal huge amounts of damage when grown or cut. Finally, the axe provides more damage than the original Timber. | ||
Final Smash | Dream Home | Villager's Final Smash. They first trap a fighter, then call on Tom Nook and the Nooklings to build a house for them. Once they receive payment, Tom Nook and the Nooklings proceed with the building of the house, ending with the jingle from New Leaf playing before the house explodes, dealing damage and high knockback to the trapped fighter and anyone around. |

Stages
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U features two stages based on the Animal Crossing series: Town and City and Smashville, which returns from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In addition, Tortimer Island appears as a stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
Items
Pitfall Seed makes a return from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, having the same effects of giving any fighters the buried status effect. Pitfall Seeds also enable the ability to use a meteor smash.
New to this game are Beehives. When thrown at a fighter, bees will pop out from the hive and proceed to continuous deal damage to the fighter that was targeted. If thrown elsewhere, the bees will attack the nearest opponent, and if a fighter hits the Beehive on accident, the bees will retaliate and attack back. After a few minutes, the bees will swarm away.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U also features Isabelle as an Assist Trophy. She will continuously throw fruit to the fighter that summoned her, instantly healing them as they touch the fruit. She will react when opponents try to attack her, if her summoner is KO'd, and if the summoner scores a KO.
Music
The Animal Crossing series has received six new compositions for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, with most hailing from the recent entry at the time, Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

- "Outdoors at 7 p.m. (Sunny) / Main Street" – An arrangement that features the 7 PM theme and the Main Street theme in New Leaf.
- "Kapp'n's Song" – An upbeat remix of several tracks that Kapp'n would sing to the player while he is ferrying them to and from Tortimer Island.
- "Tortimer Island Medley" – A composition featuring the themes of Tortimer Island and the tours from New Leaf.
- "Tour (Animal Crossing: New Leaf)" – An arrangement of the main tour theme from New Leaf.
- "Bubblegum K.K." – A remix of the aforementioned K.K. Slider song, featuring the main theme motif from New Leaf.
The following tracks have also returned from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
- "The Roost (Animal Crossing: Wild World)" – A soothing rendition from the café in the museum basement.
- "Town Hall and Tom Nook's Store" – An upbeat medley of two tunes. The Tom Nook verse is based on the Nook's Cranny theme.
- "Title (Animal Crossing)" – A medley of pieces surrounding Wild World, including the main theme of Wild World, the museum theme, the 3 PM theme, the jingle after a home loan is played, the 6 AM theme, the Town Hall theme during daylight hours, and Nook's Cranny theme.
- "2:00 a.m." – An upbeat remix of K.K.'s rendition of the 2 AM theme in Wild World from Animal Crossing Sound CD: K.K. Choice! Mix.
- "Go K.K. Rider!" – A remix of the aforementioned K.K. Slider song, sounding orchestrated and containing motorbike revs.
As with before, K.K. Slider will make an appearance on not only Smashville, but also Town and City to sing either one of these tracks between 8 PM and 12 AM on Saturdays:

The Animal Crossing series has received additional trophies with the increased representation from Villager's inclusion. Most trophies in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS are focused on New Leaf, while most trophies in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U are focused on City Folk.
Name | Picture | Description | |
---|---|---|---|
Able Sisters | (3DS) |
(Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Able Sisters is a clothing and tailoring shop run by three completely different sisters. The oldest, Sable, quietly sews in the corner. The middle child, Labelle, sells accessories, and the youngest, Mabel, greets customers cheerfully. They fought in the past but have put that behind them! |
PAL: The three Able sisters are like chalk and cheese...and thread, but running a clothes shop makes good use of their strengths: Sable works quietly at the sewing machine, Labelle sells accessories, and the cheerful Mabel welcomes people in. Despite their quirks, they get along well...usually. | |||
Beehive | (3DS) |
(Wii U) |
NTSC-U: An example of fine architecture constructed by insects, these bees are not shy about defending their hard work. Throw this at an enemy to direct their hate at that player. If the bees are after you, you can shake them for a while with some evasive maneuvers, but they'll track you down. |
PAL: Bees don't like it when people destroy their home, so if you break a beehive, they'll come out looking for revenge. Even if you innocently had the beehive thrown at you, you'll be the target. You can dodge all you want, but they'll probably get you in the end, and their stings'll do a LOT of damage. | |||
Blanca | (3DS) |
Her smooth face is just like...well, a blank canvas! She used to let people give her a face by drawing on her, but in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, she uses her peculiar face to trick everyone on April Fools' Day. Only a master of disguise like her could mimic other people so convincingly! | |
Blathers | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Blathers knows all there is to know about fossils, which is probably why he is in charge of the town museum. He also knows about fish and art, but he seems a bit squeamish when it comes to bugs. It has something to do with childhood trauma. Regardless, if you pop by during the day, you'll catch him napping. | |
PAL: Blathers is the perfect owl to be in charge of the town museum. He knows all there is to know about fossils, fish, and art, but he's a little squeamish when it comes to bugs. Probably had a bad experience back when he was an owlet... Anyway, pop over to the museum during the day to catch him "resting his eyes". | |||
Brewster | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: If you stop in the Roost, you'll spot Brewster behind the counter, ready to serve you a cup of his original blend. You know you're a regular when Brewster becomes slightly more talkative. Never too aloof, never too familiar, he's as comfy to have around as a pigeon-milk latte. | |
PAL: Stop in at the Roost to see Brewster behind the counter, ready to serve you a cup of his original blend. You know you've become a regular when he starts being a bit more chatty. He's never too aloof, never too "in your face" - he's just nice to be around whenever you feel like having a pigeon-milk latte. | |||
Bus to the City | (Wii U) |
The bus that takes you into the city in Animal Crossing: City Folk. It's free 24/7 and driven by a certain someone you might recognize (you might have also seen him driving a boat or a taxi). Take the bus anytime to see places like the theatre and the art gallery, and try visiting at night to see some places that are usually closed. | |
Celeste | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Celeste works in the town museum, where you can find her dozing during the day. You can't really be mad about that, though- she is an owl, after all. Most residents will let her sleep, knowing that she'll wake up promptly if she's needed. What could she be dreaming about? | |
PAL: Go to the town museum during the day to see Celeste working there. Working...and snoozing. You can't really blame her, though - she is an owl! If you ever need her help with something, just talk to her and she'll wake right up. If you don't need her help, though, maybe you should be nice and let her keep dreaming! | |||
Chip | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: For some people, fishing is all about the journey, not the destination. For this beaver, it's all about the destination... because the destination means dinner! If you take him a big fish, he'll congratulate you. Then he'll gobble it down like he hasn't eaten in days. It's...erm...quite a sight. | |
PAL: For some people, fishing is all about "catch and release". For this beaver, it's more like "measure and eat". Bring him a big fish and he'll congratulate you and tell you just how big it is. In return, he asks to keep your fish. No need to slice, fry or grill it. He'll just gobble it down whole. It's, er...quite the sight. | |||
Cooper & Booker | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you decide which police officer you'll have in your town based on the type of police station you put up. Will you build the modern police station and hire the brisk, professional Copper? Or perhaps the classic police station and the quiet, nervous Booker? | |
PAL: In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you decide which police officer you'll have in your town based on the type of police station you put up. Will you build the modern police station and hire the brisk, professional Copper, or do you prefer the classic police station and Copper's quiet, nervous partner, Booker? It's all up to you - it's your town, after all! | |||
Digby | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: Isabelle's twin brother, Digby, works at the Happy Home Showcase, but if he needs a quick break, he'll head down to the Roost for a cup of coffee. He takes Blue Mountain, black, no sugar, whereas his sister likes her coffee with a lot of milk and three sugars. For some reason, an order that doesn't include "a lot of milk" sounds more mature. | |
PAL: Isabelle's twin brother Digby works at the Happy Home Showcase, but if he needs a quick break, he'll head down to the Roost for a cup of coffee. He takes Blue Mountain, black, no sugar, whereas his sister likes her coffee with a lot of milk and three sugars. Funny how something as simple as a coffee order can make you sound more mature... | |||
DJ KK | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: "Yo yo yo! Come rock out at Club LOL! Featuring DJ KK every night of the week (except Saturdays)! Listen to the singer- songwriter bust out a foot-stompin' mix of tunes! Don't forget to come on your birthday for a special treat!" ...That advertisement definitely catches the eye. | |
PAL: "Get down at Club LOL! DJ KK is IN da HOUSE, spinning a NON-STOP mix of the best beats EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!* *(Except Saturdays.) A Special TREAT for birthday VIPs! What an ad! So many capital letters… | |||
Don (NTSC-U) Don Resetti (PAL) |
(Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Don and Sonny Resetti run the Reset Surveillance Center. They keep a careful eye out for players who might be resetting their games without saving. As Don likes to say, "Resettin' ain't good. So don't do it!" If Sonny is the brother who catches you, you'll hear a lot more than that! | |
PAL: This chap runs the Reset Surveillance Center with his brother, the fabled scolder Mr. Resetti (first name: Sonny). Their job is to warn players who switch off without saving. Don's gentle about it, though. He'll say stuff like, "Resettin' ain't no good. So, um, don't do it!" If you get caught resetting, just hope it's Don's face you see. | |||
Dr. Shrunk | (3DS) |
(Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Dr. Shrunk definitely has a...unique look about him. As the owner of Club LOL, a new entertainment venue, he isn't shy about taking the stage. It's too bad his jokes don't always fly. If you want a taste of his humor, take him some treats before the show starts! |
PAL: Dr. Shrunk used to be a comedian, and he looks the part. He doesn't do just any old jokes, though - he does Reaction Jokes, which are, erm...even funnier! Visit Club LOL before it opens and give him a yummy present to get a does of comedy, Shrunk style. | |||
Dream House (NTSC-U) Housewarming Party (PAL) |
(Wii U) |
If you're wanting to buy a house in Animal Crossing, Tom Nook is always happy to help. And it looks like he's expanding his business to Smash Bros, too. If you activate the Villager's Final Smash, Nook will rush in and build a house for you right then and there! One small, very minor difference between this house and ones in the original game? This one explodes. | |
Franklin | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: The Harvest Festival, understandably, makes Franklin a little nervous. But in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, he's been invited to cook for everyone. He seems to need help gathering ingredients... Could you spare some time to help? Just to be clear, he isn't one of the ingredients! | |
PAL: Harvest Festivals understandably make Franklin nervous, but in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, he's been invited to cook for everyone. Maybe you'd consider helping him gather the ingredients he needs? For the record, though, Franklin is not on the menu. | |||
Frillard | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Ready for a real thrill? Frillard is getting up there in years and doesn't appear on stage all that often, but if you're lucky enough to catch one of his shows, you're in for a real treat! Frillard will spread that frill and show you emotion in motion. Dr. Shrunk is a student of his, but that frill gag is one only the master can do. | |
PAL: Ready for a thrill? Frillard's getting on a bit, so he doesn't appear in the theatre very often. If you're lucky enough to catch one of his shows, watch him spread that frill of his and prepare to see emotion in motion! Hard as his student Dr. Shrunk may try, that gag where he spreads his frill is one that only the master can pull off. | |||
Gracie | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Gracie is a celebrity fashion designer who is really pretty critical of others. She'll happily let you know if your current look is hip or hippy, if you ask her. Aside from style reviews, she also runs her own little boutique, which she feels is a sanctuary from all the awful style choices. | |
PAL: Gracie is a celebrity fashion designer and can be pretty blunt about what she thinks of other people's clothes. Want to know whether your outfit is hip or hippy? Then go and see her for one of her famous "fashion checks"! Gracie also runs her own little boutique, which she sees as a sanctuary from all the awful style choices. | |||
Grams | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: The eldest turtle on the tropical island, Grams runs the souvenir counter. She'll trade you island-themed goods in exchange for the medals you earned during tours. Among the things she sells are flower-patterned muumuus, but Leila thinks they look best on Grams. | |
PAL: Want ocean-themed souvenirs? Look no further than the shop on Tortimer Island! They don't even cost a single Bell - Grams only takes medals. You might be tempted by the adorable muumuus on sale, but no one could look better in one than Grams herself. At least, that's what her granddaughter, Leila, thinks. | |||
Gulliver | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: Gulliver is a seagull who is not the best sailor, despite dressing the part. You can usually find him shipwrecked on the beach with a bad case of the forgets. If you help him remember where he was headed, he'll set on his travels once more. In time, you'll get a thank-you souvenir! | |
PAL: While sailing the seven seas, Gulliver often finds himself in the most dramatic and totally manly situations that end with him washing up on a beach with just the teeeensiest bit of amnesia. If you can help him remember where he was off to, he'll get right back to his travels and even send you a local souvenir as a thank-you! | |||
Harriet | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Sometimes the only thing you need to turn your day around is a nice haircut. If you visit Shampoodle, Harriet will quiz you a bit and, before you can say "sugar," you'll have a brand-new, perfect hairstyle. In Animal Crossing: City Folk, she offers a makeover that leaves you looking like a Mii! | |
PAL: If you want a haircut that'll make you feel brand new, pay a visit to Harriet's salon. Shampoodle. She'll ask you a few quick questions, and before you can say "sugar", you'll have the hairdo of your dreams. And since Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City, she's also been able to give special makeovers that leave you looking like a Mii! | |||
Isabelle | (3DS) |
(Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Isabelle is the mayor's highly capable secretary. She can be forgetful sometimes, but you can always count on her for information about the town. She wears her hair up in a bun that makes her look like a shih tzu. Mostly because she is one! She also has a twin brother named Digby. |
PAL: Isabelle's the mayor's secretary, and you couldn't ask for someone more on the ball! Well...maybe you could, but she's still full of useful info about life in the town. With her fringe and tied-up hair, she looks just like a shih-tzu! That's because she is one. And so is her twin brother, Digby. | |||
Isabelle (Winter Outfit) (NTSC-U) Isabelle (Sweater) (PAL) |
(3DS) |
NTSC-U: The green check she wears in warmer months suits her perfectly, but when the cold hits, her mustard-yellow cardigan is just too stylish for words. It may make you long for the spring months, though. Hot or cold—nothing makes Isabelle feel under the weather! | |
PAL: The green chequered vest she wears in warmer months suits her to a T, but when the cold hits, her mustard-yellow cardie is just too stylish for words. That said, it might make you long for spring and all its vibrant beauty! Of course, Isabelle doesn't mind. Hot or cold, she's always a ray of sunshine! | |||
Jack | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: Jack, the self-proclaimed czar of Halloween, goes around town saying "Trick or treat!" to everyone he meets! In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you can see him earlier in October too. Seems like he's looking for a few loyal subjects. Don't you worry—it's all in good fun! | |
PAL: Jack, the self-proclaimed czar of Halloween, goes around town saying "Trick or treat!" to everyone he meets! In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you can see him earlier in October too. Seems like he's looking for a few good loyal subjects. Don't worry, pumpkin - he'll have you scaring up a good time! | |||
Jingle | (Wii U) |
Happy Toy Day! (If it's not Toy Day, then... happy other-time-of-the-year!) Jingle's a festive reindeer who stops by once a year. If you happen to be dressed as Santa and have a bit of free time on your hands, why not help him out? Just imagine the looks on your neighbors' faces when they get a present personally delivered by Santa! | |
Joan | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Joan has been in the business of selling turnips for about 60 years now, and she'll happily explain the basics when you talk to her. Taking the risk is entirely up to you, though. If you take the plunge, you'll want to check the prices often. It doesn't hurt to ask your friends about their prices too. | |
PAL: Joan has been in the business of selling turnips for about 60 years now, and she'll happily explain the basics when you talk to her. It's entirely up to you if you want to take the risk, though. If you do decide to, you'll want to check prices often. And it doesn't hurt to ask your friends about their prices too. | |||
K.K. Slider | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: His fans can't wait for Saturday evenings. Why? Because K.K. Slider performs live! The crowd goes wild when K.K. Slider plays some of his greatest hits, like K.K. Samba, K.K. Waltz, and K.K. Stroll, on his acoustic guitar. He sometimes even takes request! Other days, you can find him spinning tunes at Club LOL as a DJ. | |
PAL: Fans of this groovy dog just can't wait for his live show every Saturday night. With his trusty acoustic guitar, he'll treat you to such delights as the K.K. Samba, the K.K. Waltz and the K.K. Stroll. He even takes requests! In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you can also find him on other days of the week working as a DJ at Club LOL. | |||
Kapp'n | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: This turtle ferries you out to the tropical island. In the past he's been seen driving a taxi and a bus, and now he's the captain of a little boat. Or maybe he just wanted to sing his songs— it's only right to be sailing while singing sea shanties, after all! | |
PAL: Kapp'n is a man of many talents: taxi driver, bus driver, and now sailor of the boat that takes tourists to Tortimer Island. He loves taking people places, no matter what the method, but now he's back to his roots. You might assume that his favourite letter is the letters arrr, but you'd be wrong: his one true love is the C. | |||
Katie | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: After playing with a friend, you may spot a crying, lost little kitten in your town. Thankfully, she knows where her mommy should be waiting. If you offer to take her there, she'll do her best to follow behind. You'll help out this poor kitten, won't you? | |
PAL: After playing with a friend, you might spot a lost little kitten crying in your town. Thankfully, she knows where her mum should be waiting. If you offer to take her there, she'll toddle along behind as you lead the way. You'll help out this poor kitten, won't you? It's what any decent person would do! (Also, there's a reward.) | |||
Katrina | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Keeeeeeeeeee hamo-ata... Keeee haaaaaamo-atata... Every so often, Katrina will set up her tent to reveal your future and the path to avoid disaster (for a small fee, of course). She bases her predictions on your birthday, so we hope you entered it correctly! | |
PAL: A panther in mystical clothes who tells fortunes. Once in a while she'll set up her tent in town. Visit her for a teaser of what's in store for you - including what item will bring you luck that day. She bases her predictions on your birthday, so make sure you enter it correctly! If you put it in wrong, that would be...un-fortune-ate! | |||
Kicks | (3DS) |
(Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Crikey! This shoeshine has really come up in the world. He used to work in a faraway city, but now he runs a shoe store with an impressive collection of shoes to choose from. And you can tell from that sharp-looking hat he's wearing that his is a style you can trust. |
PAL: Hello, chum! This friendly shoe shop owner used to shine shoes in the city, but now he's managed to save up enough money for his own little shop in town. His outfit might make him look like he sweeps chimneys for a living, but don't worry - you definitely won't find any soot on his wares, awright? | |||
Leif | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: Although he's a sloth, there's nothing lazy about Leif. He works hard to sell seeds, saplings, and gardening supplies, all while fighting the temptation to dangle from his plants. I wonder if Leif knows how much all his hard work brightens the days of those around him... | |
PAL: Sloth he may be, but he's not one to just lounge around! He sells seeds, saplings and other gardening supplies - all with a big smile. PAL: Bury this item anywhere you like, then wait for an unsuspecting fighter to step on it. They'll drop into a hole and be stuck there, giving you the chance to practise your best smashes on them. PAL: Their names make them sound like a pair of country singers, but they're actually the proprietors of Re-Tail. Reese deals in second-hand goods, while her husband, Cyrus, customises furniture. They might not do much singing together, but there's definitely harmony between these alpacas. | |||

PAL: Always thrilled to meet new people on the move, he'll ask you your name and where you're moving to. Don't just answer with random nonsense, though. After all, you'll be stuck with the answers you give, and who wants to live in a town called "AAAAAAAA"?! | |||

NTSC-U: A former mayor who is living out his retirement on a tropical island. He's not a hermit, though, and absolutely loves spending time with anyone who goes to visit his tropical paradise. Everyone could learn from his generous spirit. And that aloha shirt looks great! | |
PAL: Many cultures around the world see the tortoise as a symbol of great age and wisdom, and Tortimer embodies both in spades. A former town mayor, he now lives a slightly quieter life organising island tours and giving out medals. The Hawaiian shirt definitely wasn't part of his mayoral attire. | |||
Tortimer Island | (3DS) |
NTSC-U: Take a ride on Kapp'n's boat to reach this tropical island, home to fish, insects, and fruit you can't find anywhere else. Tortimer's tours are also available here. Eat the fruit on this stage to reduce your damage, but keep an eye out for the occasional bomb in the mix too! | |

Town and City | (Wii U) |
Get a bird's-eye view of the town and city from Animal Crossing: City Folk as you fight on a platform overhead. Your Wii U console's clock dictates the time of day and which animals and places appear. Don't get too distracted by all that, though, because the platform itself is pretty simple-perfect for a battle of skill! | |
Villager | (3DS) |
(Wii U) |
NTSC-U: An energetic young man from a peaceful town in Animal Crossing, he is eager to make his Smash Bros. debut! His Balloon Trip recovery lets him fly like a character from Balloon Fight. The Villager sets out to answer that age-old question: If a tree falls on the battlefield and foes are beneath it, do they get launched? |
PAL: This chipper chap came all the way from his quiet little village to do a bit of aerial sightseeing, take Lloid out for a spin, look after the trees and maybe do some bowling. Villager (Alt.) | (3DS) |
(Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Just a normal girl living a normal life in a normal town—her special moves, however, are anything but. If she leaves the tree standing, she can use the axe against foes. |
PAL: This girl's special moves are very special indeed. The standard one lets you pocket items, projectiles and even laser beams, then use them by pressing the button again. Her down special plants a tree, which you can water and finally chop down to hurt other fighters. Or you can leave the tree alone and attack with the axe. Up to you. | |||

He doesn't seem to be too hungry, but it is a dream- he's probably happily eating in the waking world! | |
PAL: A travelling artist with a big appetite. Since he's a walrus, you might think he'd only eat fish, but he'll also gobble up fruit, nuts and...pretty much anything. You could say he's a fan of the "sea food diet". In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, he only appears in dreams, when you visit the Dream Suite. At least then he's not too hungry! | |||
Wisp | (Wii U) |
NTSC-U: Cute li'l Wisp is first met when he shyly asks for your help in collecting five spirits before the sun rises. Who would have thought the simple bug net would be able to catch them? Cool! When you next meet him, in Animal Crossing: City Folk, he becomes a lamp spirit that's scared of ghosts. Don't judge him! Ghosts are scary! | |
PAL: When cute lil Wisp shows up in the first Animal Crossing, he shyly asks players to help him collect five spirits before dawn. Surprisingly, you can just use any old bug net for the job! In Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City, he appears as a lamp spirit with a fear of ghosts. Odd thing for a spirit to be scared of, don't you think? | |||
Zipper (NTSC-U) Zipper T. Bunny (PAL) |
(3DS) |
NTSC-U: This isn't a costume, really! Everyone asks, and the answer is always the same. Please ignore the zipper on the back—that just spoils the magic. This lucky spring fellow appears on Bunny Day, celebrating by asking you to search for bunny eggs. Open up the eggs you find—maybe a prize is inside! | |
PAL: Despite what you may have heard, Zipper is absolutely, 100%, definitely NOT wearing a costume. ...What? There's a zip on his back? Well, that's, er... Moving on!
