- "Celebrated on July 7th, this is the one day that the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi—represented by the stars Vega and Altair—can meet. Write a wish on tanzaku paper, hang it from bamboo, and wish on the stars! "
- — Nook Shopping seasonal event description
Starcrossed Day, also known as Tanabata, is an event in the Animal Crossing series that occurs on July 7. It appears in the Japanese version of Animal Crossing and in Japanese towns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
Appearances
In Doubutsu no Mori+ and Doubutsu no Mori e+
In the original Japanese version of Animal Crossing, Tortimer appears in near the shrine on Tanabata and will give the player a Tanabata Palm if spoken to. In international versions, this item is instead obtained from Crazy Redd's.
While the event itself does not appear in Doubutsu no Mori e+, Mom sends the player a letter mentioning the event on July 7.
In New Leaf
In Japanese towns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Isabelle appears in the plaza on Starcrossed Day and will give the player Bamboo Grass if spoken to.
In New Horizons
Although the event does not formally occur in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it is celebrated throughout the month of July with Bamboo Grass that can be purchased from the Nook Shopping service. Additionally, the related Cowherd & Weaving Girl Day (otherwise known as the Qixi Festival, the Chinese holiday from which Tanabata is derived) is celebrated throughout August with the Hikoboshi Outfit and the Orihime Outfit, which can also be purchased through Nook Shopping. Unlike in New Leaf, these items are available worldwide.
