− | + | '''TVs''', or '''televisions''', are a type of furniture obtainable in the {{SER}}. Like in real life, TVs broadcast an assortment of programs when turned on, such as game shows, cartoons, or plays. In the [[First generation|first-generation]] games, each TV plays a specific show that never changes. From {{WW}} onward, the program can change depending on the time of day. | |

TVs, or televisions, are a type of furniture obtainable in the Animal Crossing series. Like in real life, TVs broadcast an assortment of programs when turned on, such as game shows, cartoons, or plays. In the first-generation games, each TV plays a specific show that never changes. From Animal Crossing: Wild World onward, the program can change depending on the time of day.

Programming[edit]
- Needs to be updated with the programs in New Horizons. Might also need an overall clean-up, as well.
- Needs to be updated with the programs in New Horizons. Might also need an overall clean-up, as well.
Programs played on TVs change each hour. In Animal Crossing, each TV displays a specific program unique to that TV. Some programs feature special versions of K.K. Slider songs (usually the track with the main melody is removed), or songs from previous titles. The following programs can be found on TV throughout the day:
Programs[edit]
- News: On at 6 AM, 7 AM, 11 AM, 6 PM, 10 PM and 11 PM. Shows various pictures of hosts and reporters while "K.K. D&B" plays in the background. In New Horizons, "K.K. Technopop" plays instead.
- Variety Show: Shows a man and a woman alternately speaking, with an occasional bit of laughter, while "K.K. Ragtime" plays in the background. In New Horizons, a larger group of people is seen.
- Weather: Comes on after the news (normally after 45 minutes after the hour the news begins). Shows what the weather will be like on the day that follows. "Café K.K.", "K.K. Swing", and "K.K. Love Song" can be heard in the background.
- Drama: Shows a man and a woman talking on a balcony while the Roost theme from City Folk plays in the background. In New Horizons, they meet up, have an argument, walk near the shore, and hold hands. "Soulful K.K." plays in the background.
- Sports: Shows a soccer game, including goalie close-ups and a full picture of the field. In New Horizons, a tennis game is showed instead. The program usually lasts 1-2 hours.
- Cartoons: Shows a ninja in a yellow suit laughing while "Go K.K. Rider" plays in the background.
- Quiz Show: Four people supposedly answer questions asked by the mustached host. A man appears to get it wrong while a woman gets it correct.
- Documentary: Various pictures of nature are shown, including a forest with deer and a tree-covered mountain. In New Horizons, "Hypno K.K." plays in the background.
- Late-Night Crime Show: Shows images of a building being blown up and a person who appears to be holding a gun.
- Movie: Appears in New Horizons at 9:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. It shows a someone who appears to be a wizard in a tower.
- Off air: Appears after midnight on Sunday and Monday (after 3 AM every other day) and shows a test pattern and, later, static after the broadcast goes off-air.
- Ghost Stories: Appears in Wild World and shows various pictures of people encountering ghosts.
- Talkshow: Appears in New Leaf and shows men talking on a TV show while the Happy Room Academy theme from City Folk plays in the background.
- Kid's show: Appears in New Leaf and shows robots fighting each other while "Bubblegum K.K." plays in the background. It only plays on the Karaoke System and can't be seen on any of the TVs. In New Horizons, it plays on TVs at 10:00 AM on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and "K.K. Metal" plays in the background.
- Cat & Mouse: Appears in New Leaf and New Horizons and shows a cat chasing a mouse while "K.K. Rockabilly" plays in the background.
- Exercise: Appears in New Leaf at 3 PM and shows people performing exercise routines, based on real-world televised calisthenics broadcasts in Japan, while music from the morning aerobics from Animal Crossing plays in the background.
- Cooking: Appears in New Leaf and New Horizons and shows a chef trying to let a woman eat some food while "K.K. Étude" plays in the background.
- Music Program: Appears in New Leaf and New Horizons at 12 AM and shows a person singing to "K.K. Jazz". In New Horizons, a group of women sing "Bubblegum K.K.", and then "K.K. Disco" shortly after.
- Secret Program: Appears in New Leaf at 3:33 AM on Sundays and Mondays and shows an alien coming out of a UFO and delivering a message in an alien language. It returns in New Horizons, appearing on Saturdays instead.
Commercials and intermissions[edit]
- Apples: This intermission shows apples rolling around. It is taken from the Apple TV from the GameCube version.
- Lady: This intermission shows what looks like a lady trying to rap or sing. It is taken from the Retro TV from the GameCube version.
- Snowing: This commercial shows a house being snowed on at night. It is taken from the Snowman TV from the GameCube version.
- Exercise Machine: This commercial shows a lady demonstrating an exercise machine. DJ K.K. plays in the background.
- Drink: This commercial shows children at a park having fun, then drinking some sort of soft drink. The startup theme from the GameCube version is heard, but in a faster tempo.
- Laundry Detergent: This commercial shows what looks like a little boy telling his mother to do some washing, only for all the shirts to blow off the washing line.

- Harvest TV: Shows three football players running down a field, while cheering can be heard in the background.

Implied programs[edit]
Other characters may refer to additional programs that may not be viewable by the player:
- During the daily island-wide broadcast in New Horizons, on days without news, Isabelle may bring up something she watched on TV the night before, including documentaries and a variety show. It's not clear whether all of the programs mentioned (particularly documentaries on specific topics) can be watched by the player.
- Maglevs in Love – A show about anthropomorphic maglev trains in love mentioned by peppy villagers in New Horizons as something they watched before thinking up a DIY recipe. The villager will invariably say that one character, Maglev Mike, took their relationship "off the rails".
- Pointed Love – A romantic soap opera about porcupines mentioned by Sable on Thursdays after befriending her in Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf. She will mention to the player that the two main characters constantly break up and get together again. Additionally, in Wild World, Sable will say, "I wonder... did Reginald survive the de-quilling procedure? And who is Esther's mystery porcupine? Oh, I can't wait to watch it tonight!" In City Folk, she says she is watching season 4, and in New Leaf, she mentions that the show is now titled Pointed Love: <current year> (i.e. Pointed Love: 2024).
- Pointed Questions - In New Horizons, Sable will mention a true-crime show on Thursdays instead. According to her, the district attorney on the show is always badgering the witnesses.
- Slappy Clobbertown - In New Horizons, a peppy villager may mention in conversation with a cranky villager about a popular TV series with 71 volumes. The peppy villager claims that the show is so popular that fans cosplay as, get tattoos of, and name their children after the characters in the show.
- Vichyssoise Station - A kid's cooking show with no adult supervision. In New Horizons, if the player talks to a lazy villager on a Wednesday, the villager may say that Wednesdays make them miss watching this show as a kid. They will also claim that the food was terrible, everything was sticky (likely by the end of each episode), and the show's producers were hit with numerous lawsuits.
- Gyroid Gyroid - A music show that can be brought up by peppy villagers if having a conversation with another peppy villager, saying it was being shown the night before, performing live.
Trivia[edit]
- Resetti Surveillance Center has a TV inside the building that plays a non-watchable show.
- The TV in the Surveillance Center has been replaced by a normal TV in New Leaf.
- The exercise machine is the same one in a Nintendo 64DD promo.
