The basic trash can is a customizable furniture item in Animal Crossing: New Leaf introduced in the Welcome amiibo update.

The basic trash can can be obtained from the campground for  5 MEOW Coupons or from balloons. It can also be obtained from the RVs of Vivian, Hornsby, and Digby for  3 MEOW Coupons. The item's body color can be customized by Cyrus for  160 Bells.

This item appears as a furniture item in the homes of Hornsby and Vivian. As a result, this item can be purchased by the player if they were invited by any of the preceding villagers. This item also appears in the RVs of Digby, Hornsby, and Vivian.
