- "On March 14th, or 3/14, we honor the mathematical constant π (pi), whose first digits are 3.14. In honor of π and its critical importance to the math of circles, many choose to enjoy a circle of their own: a pie!"
- — Event description
The π pie is a miscellaneous furniture item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 1.8.0 Free Update. As a miscellaneous item, it can be placed on either the ground or on the surfaces of tables and other similar furniture items that have surfaces for items. Since version 2.0, the π pie is edible and by eating it, the player will earn five energy points to be able to relocate trees or break rocks.
The π Pie can be obtained from Nook Shopping for 314 Bells from March 1 to March 14 during the π Day Nook Shopping seasonal event. This item can only be ordered from the catalog while its seasonal event is ongoing.
No villagers have this item in their home.
In Happy Home Paradise, no villagers or facility unlock this item for designing. It can only be used once the player's catalog is unlocked after completing the 27th vacation home.
Real-world information
Pi Day is an event first observed in 1988 that celebrates the mathematical constant π (Pi) annually on March 14. Its date (as well as the item's price) is a reference to the first three significant digits of π: 3.14. Pi Day is often observed with association to the food pie, due to "pi" and "pie" being homophones in the English language, and most pies observing a circular shape, a shape where π is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. Another alternative date for Pi Day is July 22 (formatted as day/month for 22/7), as the fraction 22/7 equal the number π. More information on this topic is available at Wikipedia.
