Real-world information[edit]
Hammerhead sharks are a group of warm-water sharks that are often found along coastlines. They are named for their flat, wide heads which are a distinction among the species with very little variation. Unlike most sharks hammerheads only hunt solo at night, preferring to school during the day. Their diet consists of squid, fish and crustaceans, with stingray being a favorite. Despite being a coastal shark, hammerheads rarely attack humans unprovoked. Hammerheads are often targeted for "finning", a process of cutting the dorsal fin off and releasing the shark, due to the fin's status as a delicacy.
