The dace is a river fish in the Animal Crossing series introduced in Doubutsu no Mori and appearing in all following entries. Daces can be found in throughout the year in rivers from 4 PM - 9 AM as a medium-sized shadow.

Daces are members of the subfamily Leuciscinae and are from the family Cyprinidae frequently known as minnows. Members of this group that is called daces include the genera Leuciscus (which includes the common dace), Tribolodon (which includes the Japanese dace), and Meda (the pikedace).
