The Lighthouse is a landmark that is found in the player's town in Animal Crossing, Doubutsu no Mori e+, Animal Crossing: City Folk, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It reappeared in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as a furniture item purchasable from the Nook Stop.

Animal Crossing

In Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+, the Lighthouse is found near the ocean and turns on when it starts to become dark. Once a year, in an event known as Tortimer's Vacation, the mayor will ask the player to turn on the Lighthouse every night for seven nights. This is the only time the inside of the Lighthouse can be seen. If the player turns the light on each day, Tortimer will reward the player.

Animal Crossing: City Folk

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, the Lighthouse is obtained through donations to the town fund. Once the Fountain is obtained the player must donate 1,000,000 Bells, at which point either a Lighthouse or Windmill will be built. All of the players in the town can vote, and if the majority votes on a lighthouse, one will be built.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The Lighthouse appears in Animal Crossing: New Leaf as a public works project, with a cost of 372,000 Bells. However, only one Lighthouse may be built in town. It is a classic white tower with one red strip.

Trivia

  • There is a glitch in Animal Crossing: City Folk that allows players to walk on the Lighthouse. The way to do it is having one player run up and down on the right side of the Lighthouse and another player stand behind the it and dig at the very end. When the player running up and down gets stuck behind the hole (that should not happen) the player should spin around until they gets on top. To get the other player up, the player that is on top must stand in a certain position to where they can dig down as the player that dug last time runs up and down until that player is up. If a player saves the game during this, the players will faint as if they were bitten by a Tarantula or Scorpion and visiting ones will appear at the gate and the owner will appear at their home.
