Description | ||||||
In Desert Island Escape, play as a team of three characters, each of whom have a special power. |
Desert Island Escape is a minigame in Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival and the Welcome amiibo update of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It involves escaping a desert island by obtaining four parts of a raft (three logs and a sail), without running out of food supplies, and in a limited number of days. How many days depends on difficulty. Monsters can fight the player.
In amiibo Festival, the minigame can be unlocked for 4 Happy Tickets after unlocking the plaza (itself unlocked after two rounds of the board game). It requires scanning three amiibo cards to play. The player will receive Happy Points as a reward on a successful play.
In Welcome amiibo, the minigame can be accessed through the Wii U console furniture item. The characters used in the game can either be residents of the player's town or scanned with amiibo cards.[nb 1] The player will receive MEOW Coupons as a reward, as well as certain exclusive items based on certain achievements (see #Prizes).
Character abilities[edit]
There are a total of 18 different special powers in Desert Island Escape that vary depending on a villager's species, or in the case of special characters, are simply dependent on the individual character. Each group also has different stats that come into play on the island:
- Movement: The number of times a character can travel to another space, usually one space each except for certain abilities.
- Hunger: The amount of rations a character consumes at the end of each day. If there is not enough food for all three characters at the end of the day, the game is failed.
- Vision: How many spaces around the character fog will be cleared from the map.
- Favorite fruit: When a villager lands on a space with this fruit, the possible amounts of food gained are higher. This does not apply to other villagers in the party.
