Monkeys are a species in the Animal Crossing series. While the species debuted in Doubutsu no Mori as one of the special characters, the villagers were introduced in Animal Crossing: Wild World. Monkeys are characterized by their round ears, large round muzzle, a point of fur on top of their head, and their slender curved tails.

In Wild World, the monkey villagers could only be obtained by using Tag Mode near a Nintendo DS Download Station during specific distribution periods. As the distributions have ended, they can no longer move into a Wild World town without the use of cheating devices or save editing. Fortunately, they are more readily available in Animal Crossing: City Folk and all following installments, and function no differently to other villager species.

Ten monkey villagers have appeared in the series so far, along with one monkey special character. Out of the monkey villagers, six are male and four are female, making it a predominantly male species. Of these, three are jock, two are lazy, one is normal, one is peppy, one is cranky, one is snooty, and one is big sister. There are currently no smug monkeys.

Champ is the only monkey who has not reappeared since Animal Crossing: City Folk. Monty and Tammi are also absent from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, monkeys cannot be one of the starting villagers in the player's town.
