The lucky gold cat is a miscellaneous furniture item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As a miscellaneous item, it can be placed on either the ground or on the surfaces of tables and other similar furniture items that have surfaces for items.
The lucky gold cat can be obtained from crafting, which requires 2× gold nugget and 1× lucky cat. The recipe for this item can be obtained from snooty villagers, either when they are crafting in their house, or when the player receives their message bottle from the beach. This item is lucky, meaning it gives a 777-point Happy Home Academy bonus when placed in the player's house.
This item appears as a furniture item in the homes of Gala. As a result, this item has a chance to be purchasable by the player if they were invited by any of the preceding villagers.
In Happy Home Paradise, this item is unlocked for use in designing when doing a vacation home request for Annalisa, Bangle, Diva, Drago, Pinky, Pudge, Rowan, and Samson. The item can also be unlocked when tasked by Lottie to design the restaurant.
In the designing process of Happy Home Paradise, Drago, Pudge, and Rowan require this item to be placed in or outside their vacation home.

Real-life information
The maneki-neko (招き猫?), meaning beckoning cat, is a Japanese figurine said to give good luck to the owner. Usually made of ceramic or plastic, the cat is usually depicted under the Japanese Bobtail breed, but other variants were also created, including black to ward off evil, and yellow/gold for wealth. The cat holds a koban coin, and has one paw raised in a beckoning gesture; this paw may be mechanized to move back and forth.
The maneki-neko was thought to have originated from Edo (present-day Tokyo), where Imado dolls were sold in the region. The earliest known recording of the maneki-neko dates back to 1852, in the ukiyo-e piece Joruri-machi Hanka no zu. More information on this topic is available at Wikipedia.
