Pigs are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series that have appeared since Doubutsu no Mori, characterized by their curled tails, flopped ears, and large snouts. Nineteen pig villagers have appeared in the series, including one islander, out of which one is sisterly, three are cranky, five are jocks, two are peppy, one is smug, two are snooty, three are normal, and two are lazy.
In all games up to Animal Crossing: Wild World, the pig villagers had pointed ears, similar to the cat villagers. In Animal Crossing: City Folk onwards, however, the pigs instead are given flopped ears, making the pig the first villager species to receive a design change between games.
The Pig is the only villager species to have received a villager of every personality in the game the species debuted in, while also receiving a Sisterly and Smug villager in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
The Bird, Cat, Cub, Hippo, Monkey, and Mouse also had a villager of every personality in their debut installments. However, no Cats had the Smug personality until Animal Crossing: New Horizons. No Birds, Hippos, or Mice have ever had the Sisterly personality, whereas no Cubs or Monkeys have ever had the Smug personality.
