Anteaters are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series. They have wide bodies, prominent long noses, and small ears, in addition to fan-like tails, similar to that of the ostriches. They lack mouths, and instead talk by moving the ends of their noses up and down, much like Tom Nook, the Nooklings, Redd, and the Able Sisters.

There are ten anteater villagers, one of which is an islander. Seven are female and three are male, making it a predominantly female species. Of these, three are normal, two are peppy, two are snooty, one is jock, one is cranky, and one is smug. There are currently no lazy or big sister anteaters.

Lulu and Nosegay are the only anteaters who have not reappeared since Doubutsu no Mori e+. All of the anteaters who appear in Animal Crossing: New Horizons also appear in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

In Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: Wild World, anteater villagers cannot be one of the starting villagers in the player's town. This rule also applies to Animal Crossing: City Folk, with the only exception being Antonio.
