Hopper is a cranky penguin villager in the Animal Crossing series who is named after the rockhopper penguin, although he more closely resembles a Macaroni Penguin. In Japanese, however, Hopper is likely named after Bodhidharma, better known in Japan as "Daruma," the founder of Zen Buddhism and the inspiration for the Daruma Dolls. In addition to appearing in every game of the series (with the exception of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp), Hopper also appeared in š¬ GekijÅban Doubutsu no Mori with a minor role.
Characteristics
Appearance
Hopper is a black and white crested penguin, with a yellow beak and long, straw-like eyebrows which give him an angry look at default. He has red, slanted eyes with black pupils.
Personality
Below is a brief description of the cranky personality. For more information, click here.
As a cranky villager, Hopper will appear mature compared to other personality types. This will make him appear belittling and insensitive to other villagers, including the player. Despite this, he will learn to confide in the player, considering them his only friend. He will enjoy the usual hobbies, but for relaxation and peace than competition. He will find it difficult to socialize with peppy villagers, who he will criticize when talking to other villagers. He will get along with normal and snooty villagers, as well as other cranky villagers, who he will share deeper conversations with. He will, on occasion, annoy a normal villager, usually when being mean about something or someone.

House
In Animal Crossing: Wild World, he has cabin furniture. He will also have Lucky K.K. playing on a radio if he has one. In Animal Crossing: City Folk, he has cabin furniture in his house. There are a couple of totem poles in his house too. He still listens to Lucky K.K, and has two red gyroids in his house.
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf his home contains a Cabin Table, Cabin Side Table, Cabin Couch, a Dragon Shirt just like the one he's wearing, a birdcage, and a laptop.

Other appearances
š¬ GekijÅban Doubutsu no Mori
Hopper played a minor role as the film's comic relief (appearing in the foreground/background throughout a film, not knowing a character's background information). He is seen fishing all year round in the same spot, near the bridge by the river. He seems to always get distracted by loud noises which scare the fish.
