The char[nb 1] (known as the large char prior to Wild World and in Wild World's catch quote) is a freshwater fish appearing in all games in the Animal Crossing series. In games prior to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it can be found at the waterfall between 4 AM to 9 AM and 4 PM to 9 PM from March to June, as well as 4 AM to 9 PM from September to November.
In New Horizons, the char (similarly to the cherry salmon) instead appears as a medium shadow in clifftop rivers from 4 PM to 9 AM during its spring to early summer availability window, and all day long during its fall availability window.
