The Barrel is a houseware item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The item's top surface can be used to place smaller items, such as miscellaneous furniture. As an outdoor item, it will provide an additional 0.5 development points towards the island rating.

The Barrel can be obtained from crafting, which requires Wood and Iron Nugget. The recipe for this item can be obtained from either Tom Nook, where there is a 50% chance of being obtained if Tom Nook asks for this item during the villager house development quest, or cranky villagers.

This item appears as a furniture item in the homes of Nate, Norma, Sterling, and Vic. As a result, this item has a chance to be purchasable by the player if they were invited by any of the preceding villagers.

In Happy Home Paradise, this item is unlocked for use in designing when doing a vacation home request for Angus, Ankha, Boone, Cally, Chadder, Del, Elvis, Huck, Louie, Peanut, Poncho, Rod, Static, Vic, and Winnie.

In the designing process of Happy Home Paradise, Louie, Rod, and Vic require this item to be placed in or outside their vacation home.
