Kangaroos are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series. Out of the eleven, nine kangaroos are female, and all females have pouches with a joey inside, making them the first species to have a significant trait difference between male and female of the same species, followed by the deer. The joeys in their pouches will move their mouths the same time their mother does, and will mimic their emotions (mad, sad, etc.). Notably, the shirts of female kangaroos cover their entire torso and abdomen, including the pouch, but the shirts of male kangaroos stop partway down their stomachs. All female kangaroos' initial catchphrases relate to their baby. For example, Kitt's initial catchphrase is "child," and Mathilda's is "wee baby."
Of the female kangaroos, three are normal, three are snooty, two are peppy, and one is uchi. The uchi kangaroo, Sylvia, originally appeared in Doubutsu no Mori e+ with a snooty personality. Both male kangaroo villagers have the cranky personality, and there are no jock, lazy, or smug kangaroos. Additionally, Valise, Koharu and Marcy, the latter two being the only peppy kangaroos, have not reappeared since Doubutsu no Mori e+.
