Maelle (pronounced "Ma-Ell") is a snooty duck in the Animal Crossing series. She first appeared in Doubutsu no Mori+ as an islander, and after her appearance in Doubutsu no Mori e+, she appears in all subsequent games as a villager. Her catchphrase and favorite saying both relate to her species.

In New Horizons, Maelle has the fashion hobby and may be seen wearing a pink purse with a white flower on it, as well as a specific headwear or accessory item.

Appearance

Maelle is a yellow duck with a bright red beak and webbed feet. She wears green eyeshadow and maintains a lazy-eyed expression. She has red hair and, as an islander in Doubutsu no Mori+, Animal Crossing, and Doubutsu no Mori e+, wears an orange flower, which is removed in other installments.

As a snooty islander in Doubutsu no Mori+, Animal Crossing, and Doubutsu no Mori e+, Maelle is talkative and vain; she is warmer than her mainland counterparts and focus on being well-liked as well as beautiful, but she can still be catty or rude in some situations.

As a snooty villager from Animal Crossing: Wild World onward, Maelle will appear arrogant and snobbish towards the player and other villagers. She may appear friendly in some discussions, provided they do not insult her lifestyle. She finds appearance important and will get upset if someone criticizes her sense of style or fitness, which means a conversation between her a jock personality may leave either one upset or angry. She also may not get along with lazy villagers due to their conflicting lifestyles - lazy villagers having a strong interest in food or relaxing of which will make her uncomfortable, angry or upset when in conversation. She will upset peppy villagers, usually by gossiping about them, and finding small things to judge them on. She will get along well with normal, cranky, and other snooty villagers. Her attitude toward the player softens as she begins to know the player, but she will still retain some arrogance and subtle rudeness. Maelle can also spread rumors about villagers and other players calling them a "bell pincher" or "broke joker" in some cases.

As an islander in Animal Crossing, Maelle has a favorite fruit and one she is allergic to. She is allergic to oranges and loves apples, meaning giving her the former reduces the likelihood of her dropping Bells, and giving her the latter increases the likelihood of her dropping Bells.
