Owls are a type of bird in the Animal Crossing series, with their first appearance in Animal Crossing for GameCube. They are nocturnal special characters. Blathers, the museum's curator, was the only owl in Animal Crossing. The museum wasn't featured in Doubutsu no Mori, hence, no owls were present in that game. When Animal Crossing: Wild World was released, Celeste, Blathers's sister, was introduced alongside the Observatory. The bulletin board from Animal Crossing: New Leaf onward also has an owl, only showing at night replacing the yellow bird that shows in the day—however, unlike the anthropomorphic Celeste and Blathers, it is a more realistic owl.
