Koalas are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series. They are indigenous to Australia, lending a theme to some of the villagers' names. Koalas are one of two groups of marsupials that appear in the Animal Crossing series, the other being kangaroos.

There are eleven koala villagers so far, of which seven are female and four are male, making it a predominantly female species. Of these, three are normal, two are big sister, one is lazy, one is jock, one is peppy, one is cranky, one is snooty, and one is smug. Faith was originally a normal islander before becoming a big sister villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Huggy, the only peppy koala, is the only koala who has not reappeared since Doubutsu no Mori e+. Canberra and Sydney are also absent from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Additionally, Yuka is the only koala to appear in every game so far.
