Produce refers to crops that can be grown in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including carrots, potatoes, pumpkins, sugarcane, tomatoes, and wheat. They are primarily used as cooking ingredients, though in some instances they can be used as crafting materials. Some produce are also used during Turkey Day for some of Franklin's recipes. Pumpkins were added in the 1.5.0 Fall Update, and all other produce was added in the 2.0 Free Update.
Produce can be obtained either by growing their starts, which can be purchased from Leif either on the main island or Harv's Island, or on a boat tour island that features one type of produce. Produce can also be obtained during ingredient exchanges with villagers during Turkey Day.
Pumpkin starts meanwhile can be obtained from Nook's Cranny during October and are discounted by Leif during October, and villagers may give pumpkins to the player if they had already learned the Halloween-related DIY recipe they are crafting or as an reward for gifting a candy.

Growth[edit]
After being planted, a seed takes up to three days to fully grow and produce one to three of a produce depending on how much they are watered. For example, if a tomato plant is watered on two days, it will produce three tomatoes; if it is watered on one day, it will produce two, and if it is not watered, it only produces one. Once a plant is picked, they will regrow starting at the second stage of growth.
Pumpkins have a unique property, where planting one can have a chance of either producing an orange, green, yellow, or white pumpkin, with a 70% chance of a plant producing orange pumpkins and a 10% for the other color varieties. It is possible to replant a specific pumpkin color to only cultivate that specific pumpkin color (e.g. a green pumpkin produces a green pumpkin sprout)
Use in crafting[edit]
Produce are used as a crafting material and a cooking ingredient for the various DIY and cooking recipes. Uniquely, green pumpkins, white pumpkins, and yellow pumpkins can be used to customize the appearance of Halloween-related items, including Spooky Series items, in place of customization kits.
