The shovel can be obtained from Tom Nook's store for 500 Bells. Unlike the other tools, the shovel does not require the player to buy or sell a certain amount before appearing for sale. It can also occasionally be found at the lost and found.

The shovel does not appear in the catalog in Doubutsu no Mori.
