The shovel is a tool item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As a shovel, the player can dig holes, fill holes, and bury or plant items. The player will use this item for 100 times whenever the player digs up a fossil, plant, or buried item, hits a rock for items (the item will break once the rock produces no more items) or after eating a food item, digs up a tree or breaks a rock. The shovel cannot be used on any players' islands unless they are marked as a Best Friend.

The shovel can be obtained from crafting, which requires 1× flimsy shovel and 1× iron nugget. The recipe for this item can be obtained from the Pretty Good Tools Recipes item. The physical recipe is unobtainable as of version 1.11.0, and it will disappear if flown or kept between play sessions. The item's color can be customized either by using 1 customization kit or by Cyrus at Harv's Island for 1,000 Bells.

In Happy Home Paradise, this item is unlocked for use in designing when doing a vacation home request for Beardo, Benjamin, Boyd, Broccolo, Cyrano, Dora, Gruff, Maggie, Vladimir, and Winnie.
