Animal Crossing
- Train Station - This is where the player goes to go to another player's Town.
- Tom Nook's store - The general store of the town. It is owned by Tom Nook.
- Dump - Any items left here will be taken away at 6 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. Villagers will often leave items here, usually two a day.
- Post Office - Letters can be sent from here. Saving letters, paying off the Mortgage and entering Nintendo e-Reader codes can also be done here.
- Museum - Paintings, Fossils, Bugs and Fish can be donated and shown here.
- Wishing Well - This is where all of the town events take place.
- Police Station - Here, the player can talk to Copper to find out about Events and Special Visitors and can see Booker about the items in the Lost Property.
- Dock - Kapp'n can take the player to the Island from here.
- Able Sisters - A tailor shop where players can go to make Designs for their Clothes.
Animal Crossing: Wild World
- Town Hall - This is where players can send letters, change the Town Tune, dump items, and pay off their mortgage.
- Museum - the place players donate all their fossils, paintings, fish, and bugs collected.
- Tom Nook's store - The general store of the town. It is owned by Tom Nook.
- Able Sisters - A tailor shop where players can go to make designs for their clothes. Players can also sell clothes here. Clothes, Accessories and Headgear can now be bought here.
- Town Gate - Players can visit other player's towns from here. The Lost Property is now found here. Booker will also tell the player about Special Visitors here.

In the town
- Town Hall - This is where players can send letters, change the Town Tune, dump items, and pay off their mortgage.

- Bus Stop- The player can catch the Bus and go to the City from here.
In the city
- Crazy Redd's - A black market where rare, and sometimes counterfeited, items can be bought for a high price.
- Marquee - A theatre where Dr. Shrunk and Master Frillard often perform. Emotions can be obtained from here. Shows cost 800 Bells.
- Happy Room Academy - The headquaters in the city contains a replica of the room that Lyle thinks best fits the theme for that week.
- GracieGrace - A shop that sells Furniture, clothes, accessories and headgear. The items sold can only be bought from here and are extremely high priced. Gracie owns the shop, but is only rarely there. Labelle runs the shop when Gracie is not there.
- Auction House - Players can put their items up for auction here to be bought from their friends. It is run by Lloid.
- Shampoodle - A hair salon where players can change their Hair style and colour. Players can also recieve a Mii Mask from here.
- Fortune Shop - Players can get a charm or a fortune here.
- Resetti Surveillance Center - Mr. Resetti and Don Resetti's headquaters.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
In the Town
- Re-Tail - A shop run by Reese and Cyrus, where the player can sell items, customize furniture, and recycle items into new creations.
- Town Hall - This is the mayor's office and players can begin Public works projects from it.
- Train Station - Allows the player to visit other towns through the Nintendo Network.
- Town Tree - Most events take place here. The tree will grow over time, eventually allowing the player to view their town's history.
- Dock - For 1,000 Bells, Kapp'n will offer a boat ride to Tortimer Island.
Public works projects
- Police Station - Contains a Lost and Found; the police also gives hints on any special character appearances.
- Resetti Surveillance Center - The surveillance center is built as a public works project, which is designed as a manhole cover the player may enter after rainy days. Resetti or Don Resetti may be inside, and will eventually give their pictures after enough visits.
- The Roost - This is a coffee shop that can be built through a public works project. Brewster makes his return in the Roost, who the player can now work part-time for and take coffee to-go outside of the Roost.
- Campground - A campground can be constructed as a public works project. Depending on the season, Tents and Igloos will periodically appear with animal visitors. Players can play games with them and occasionally encourage or discourage them to move into their town.
On Main Street
- Timmy and Tommy's store - Similar to Tom Nook's store from previous games. Timmy and Tommy now run it, and take it in turns running the shop.
- Able Sisters - The Able Sisters offer clothing as in past games in addition to now offering the ability to share and obtain created patterns through QR codes. Labelle has rejoined her sisters and now runs the shop with them.
- Nook's Homes - Players can alter the appearance of their home and buy a variety of designs and decorative objects from Tom Nook.
- Museum - Blathers continues to run the town's museum, which now offers a wider range of fossils and fish to exhibit, and a second floor featuring an exhibition room and a museum shop run by Celeste.
- Kicks - A shop that sells shoes and socks, run by Kicks.
- Garden Center - A shop that sells flower seeds and tree saplings, run by Leif.
- Shampoodle - Located upstairs to the Able Sisters, offering hair and eye color styling. Like previous games, the store is run by Harriet.
- Club LOL - A club run by Dr. Shrunk. K.K. Slider works daily as a DJ, while still holding traditional performances on Saturday nights.
- Photo Booth - A booth that allows the player to take a picture for their I.D. card.
- Dream Suite - Run by Luna, allowing players to visit other towns by inputting that town's dream address. The visit is set in a dream world, so no alterations can be made to that town.
- Happy Home Showcase - A showcase that stores houses of other players who have exchanged data via StreetPass. The homes may be viewed, and furniture from the houses can be ordered for purchase.
- Fortune Shop - After receiving 20 fortunes from Katrina during her visits, she will open a permanent Fortune Shop.
- Post Office - The postal service returns as an independent building on Main Street.
