Melba (アデレード, Aderēdo, Adelaide) is a normal, koala villager who first appeared in Animal Crossing: Wild World and subsequently in Animal Crossing: City Folk. Melba's English name may relate to the Australian city of Melbourne, also the Australian opera singer Dame Nelly Melba, who also represents her own ice-cream and Melba toast, which her phrase, "toasty", is a reference to - a dry, crisp, and thinly-sliced piece of toast that originated and is popular in Australia, where koalas are also from. Her Japanese name refers to the Australian city of the same name.

Appearance

Melba is a tan koala. She has white inner ears and turns pinkish near the bottom. Her initial clothing is the green vest. She has a large brown and white nose. She has small black eyes and a very lightly brushed pink blush. She has a cat-like mouth similar to the cat Punchy's. Canberra, who debuted in New Leaf, greatly resembles Melba, and she wears the Green Striped Shirt as well.

Personality

Below is a brief description of the normal personality. For more information, click here.

Melba is a normal villager, which means she will act mother-like to the player. She will appear friendly, sweet, and hospitable to the player. Melba will be easy to befriend. She will enjoy partaking in the usual hobbies, and will fall asleep at 1:00 A.M. and awake at about 5:00 A.M. Melba will rarely ever be angry, taking insults and getting hit with a net, being pushed too far or stepping on a pitfall seed. Instead, she will get sad. She will seem to enjoy talking about her current hobby (gardening, walking around, shell collecting, etc.) and hygiene. She will seem happy when talking with peppy, jock, and lazy villagers, as they seem to be friendlier and more sensitive. She will also be get along easily with smug and snooty villagers. If the player is nice to her in return, talks to her daily or sends letters to her, it will be very easy to obtain her picture (in Animal Crossing: Wild World only).
