A sea cucumber (ナマコ, Namako) is a type of sea creature in the Animal Crossing series, introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
While initially absent from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the sea cucumber was added in the 1.3.0 Free Summer Update, where it appears all day long as a medium-sized, very slow shadow from late fall to mid spring.

Donating to the museum[edit]
In New Leaf[edit]
"Sea cucumbers are similar to sea urchins and sea stars but are far more slender and softer. When threatened by a predator, they expel part of their internal organs as a natural defense. This is to blind and entangle the enemy so the sea cucumber has a window of escape. Some types of sea cucumbers allow predators to feed on their internal organs while they escape. Don't shed a tear for them, though as the internal organs grow back after a while."
In New Horizons[edit]
When donating to the museum, Blathers will say the following:
"The sea cucumber, much like its relatives the sea urchin and sea star, has no heart nor brain. However, unlike its relatives, it has no shell nor spikes with which to protect itself either. So, how does a softy such as this stay safe in the open ocean? Brace yourself, I say... When threatened, sea cucumbers jettison their innards...out of their backsides! Hoo! Gross but true! The sticky, stringy stuff ensnares predators, allowing the cuke to make its escape and grow its insides back. One might say...the sea cucumber is a GUTSY creature, indeed. Hoo hoo, hee hee! Do forgive me!"
The sea cucumber is located in the coral reef tank in the museum.
Fishing Tourney[edit]
In New Leaf[edit]
During a Fishing Tourney, when given a sea cucumber, Chip will not score the sea creature but will say the following:
"Man, my hat goes off to whoever was the first to eat a sea cucumber! Sounds like a good idea, though... Yeah, I don't think I'll be joining the sea-cuke club anytime today! Maybe not tomorrow either!"
