Talk:Raymond
Fitting Reference[edit]
Everybody Loves Raymond. He is best cat. He IS best cat. Should we mention how seemingly loved by the fandom he is? SplatNerdBekahboo (Talk) 10:02, April 9, 2020 (EDT)
- I personally do not think we should add any mentions to his popularity without cold, hard facts backing it up. Even pages like Bob or Rosie do not reference popularity except their placements on a Japanese popularity poll. Lampshade59276 (talk)
- Either way, it seems to be addressed in a way that I think is appropriate in the preamble of the article 2601:602:8500:3DD0:E1FD:E411:EEA5:5DF7 19:07, May 12, 2020 (EDT)
Real-world information[edit]
I think we should add something about the fact that he sometimes will be sold ungifted for real-world money, which, corret me if I'm wrong, is actually illegal. Maybe a controversy or trivia section could include this information. ~ 08:47, April 11, 2023 (EDT)
- It's already mentioned here: https://nookipedia.com/wiki/List_of_Animal_Crossing_references_in_other_media
- Since it has nothing to do with his in-game character, I don't any reason to add that info to his page. FizzyCocoaMan (talk) 12:49, April 12, 2023 (EDT)
Trivia[edit]
I was gonna add stuff about how his name can be a reference to the raymond game and also how he is popular, which can be sorta similar to everybody loves raymond. I thought I should ask you all first so I don't get blocked for making my edits and so my edit can be good. Also i would like to add about his clothes and other knowledge and info regarding i have researched. Who's with me? - unsigned comment from AJMarioFan2323 (talk • contribs) 01:54, April 2, 2024 (EDT)
- I'm not sure what the Raymond game is, and he almost certainly has nothing to do with Everybody Loves Raymond. We don't add speculation about characters being references to other things, unless there is very clear evidence or sources to back it up.
- For popularity, I could see some information added to the trivia section, but we need citations indicating his popularity. We can't just say "he's popular" - we'd need something like a survey, Nookazon statistics, etc. to substantiate the claim. As an example, see Bob#Trivia, where we cite an official popularity poll.
- Regarding clothing, we already cover clothing in the villager information section. What other information would you like to add? ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 03:11, April 2, 2024 (EDT)
I want to add infomation about his cloths, can I? I want this wiki to have more info on that kinda thing based on my reserch and my personal knowledge. I'm just that kinda guy, so sharing my knowledge feels good for me. I love Nintendo and I know a bunch about them. Ajmarofan2323 - unsigned comment from AJMarioFan2323 (talk • contribs)
- There's already enough information regarding Raymond's clothes. Most character pages are already fully fleshed out in the appearance sections. It might help you to focus on things other than clothing. FizzyCocoaMan (talk) 00:24, April 4, 2024 (EDT)
- Not to mention, the "Appearance" section of a villager's page typically don't mention the villager's default clothes. They're not intrinsically part of their design (as they can swap them out for other clothing), they're subject to change with each installment, and their Villager Infoboxes for each game already list their default clothes for said game (with their general Villager Infobox compiling their clothes throughout the series). - OK but i want to add info if there is a naked character, like KK Slider or Farley or wisp or lloid or blathers or Celeste or even tortimer before new leaf or tom nook when he had an apron, since he can almost have no clothes but is the only character to have that. Can I write this? AJMarioFan2323 - unsigned comment from AJMarioFan2323 (talk • contribs)
- While I'm rather iffy about adding that trivia, I can tell you that most of the characters you listed would not really count. In their most "natural" designs (for lack of a better term), they still wore at least one accessory that arguably qualify as clothing. To list them off in order:
- Farley wears a hat (even if he didn't have it, HylianAngel pointed out that it's never shown what he looks like under that beard)
- Wisp wears a hitaikakushi or a genie hat (depending on the game). You could make a case about his "weakened" form in New Horizons, but considering that's more of an "incomplete" form (and thus, not really his "true" form), I hesitate to count that.
- Blathers wears a bow tie
- Celeste wears a bow
- Pre-NL Tortimer wore glasses and two other accessories; a zucchetto and whatever that belt thing is in his first appearance in DnM+, and a top hat and bow tie in all subsequent appearances
- The bare minimum Tom Nook has ever worn was just an apron
- Not counting Wisp's alternate form, only K.K. Slider and Lloid have ever had designs that completely lacked clothing. The Jacketed Terrapin 01:30, April 4, 2024 (EDT)

- OK I thought about it and even Llloid wears a work hat, so only K.K. Slider has nothing on him. Wow, so I won't add that then. Okay and thank you. :) ajmariofan2323 - unsigned comment from AJMarioFan2323 (talk • contribs)
- I'd throw Snowboy into the characters with no clothing category, though I do not know how much that counts for anything. - unsigned comment from Trig Jegman (talk • contribs)
