Nookipedia:Bots

From Nookipedia, the Animal Crossing wiki
This project page is semi-protected to prevent editing by anonymous and new users

Bots are accounts controlled by wiki users that perform automated tasks on Nookipedia. Five bot accounts (Bot, Autotroph, Weavile, HamsterMech, and Cephalobot) are currently in use on the wiki.

Bots need to be approved by wiki staff, and are granted the Bots user right group to be able to take advantage of higher rate limits. If you would like to request permission to run a bot, please make a post to the talk page and specify what tasks the bot will be doing, and share the framework or source code that will be used to run the bot.

Once your bot has been approved, the bot account should be created while still logged into your main account by navigating to Special:CreateAccount.

Abilities

With the exception of sending emails to wiki users and moving pages, Bots have the abilities of an autoconfirmed user, in addition to the following:

  • Suppress redirects when moving pages
  • Make minor edits to talk page that are not marked as new messages
  • Upload files from a URL
  • Use higher limits in API queries
  • Make string replacements on the entire wiki

Bots' edits do not appear on the Recent Changes list by default, and their edits are automatically marked as patrolled.
