Nate is a lazy bear villager in the Animal Crossing series. He first appears in Doubutsu no Mori and then in Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+, but is absent in Animal Crossing: Wild World. He later returns in Animal Crossing: City Folk, however. His name most likely comes from hibernate, although he may also be named after Treehouse localizer Nate Bihldorf.

Characteristics

Appearance

Nate is an orange bear with a thick, green unibrow and black, dotlike eyes. He appears to pull a continuous unhappy look upon his face, due to his mouth meeting at his black, triangular nose, and may be mistaken for a cranky villager with this expression. He also has three freckles on each cheek, a white snout and cream paws.

Like other lazy villagers, Nate is calm, laid back, and likes food. Despite these interests, Nate actually is very shy, not talking much to others. Nate is usually in a good mood and will be happy to carry a conversation with the player. If angered, Nate will usually need a few minutes to cool down, but after that he is calm, cool and collected all over again. Nate's hobbies are staying inside sitting on his couch and watching TV, and the occasional furniture hunting. In New Leaf, he will wake up at 9:00 a.m. and falls asleep at 11:00 p.m.
