Zipper T. Bunny, often called Zipper T. or just Zipper, is a character first introduced in Animal Crossing: City Folk as the host of Bunny Day. He is a yellow rabbit with purple eyelids. He wears a sun visor and blue overalls with a white star on the front pocket, and displays a cheerful expression.
It's a running joke that villagers think he is someone in a costume, though he states that it is not. If the player talks to him from the back, it is revealed he has a large zipper on the back of his overalls. He may then comment not to look at his zipper as it "spoils the magic." Despite some believing Zipper is dressed in a costume, his mouth still moves when he talks, and his eyes blink and react to emotions the same way as all other characters. In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp he seems sensitive about the rumor, claiming that it's rude to call it (his appearance) a costume, and that this is just how he looks.
Appearances
Animal Crossing: City Folk
Zipper makes his official debut in Animal Crossing: City Folk. Upon approaching him, Zipper's theme will play and he will begin to dance. The music fades and he stops dancing once players walk away from Town Hall, followed by him sighing. When players talk to him, he will introduce himself and ask them to find some eggs which are buried around town. He will ask the player to open them up to reveal a "surprise": bunny foils, which he also calls prize tickets. He gives players Furniture from the Egg Series for every bunny foil that's given to him.
When in town, villagers will usually speak of him in a derogatory manner. Normal villagers appear to be scared of him. It would appear that he is unhappy with his choice of uniform and career, as he mentions under his breath about how he wants a new career and how uncomfortable he is under the suit.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Zipper returns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, where his role remains unchanged. However, there are now six different types of eggs to be found rather than bunny foils. Each different egg appears in a different location: in Trees, in the Sea through fishing or swimming, attached to Balloons, under the ground, and in Rocks. A piece from the Egg Series is given with each egg returned to Zipper. On rare occasions, the player may find a "lucky ticket," in which case Zipper will give the player his Picture.
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo when he appears in his RV, Zipper freely admits he is wearing a bunny suit and does not object to the zipper being seen, though he does not explain why he is wearing the suit despite it not being Bunny Day.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
Zipper is featured once again in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp as the host of the Garden Safari event "Zipper's Wonderland." For this event, the player is required to catch creatures known as Scramblers, which only appear after special flowers have been planted. If a player manages to catch one, Zipper will give the player a piece of furniture from the Wonderland Series.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Zipper once again hosts Bunny Day. He can be found wandering around the island about two weeks before the event. When spoken to, he tasks the player with crafting items from the Bunny Day Series using eggs that he has hidden throughout the island, giving them the DIY Recipe for a Bunny Day Bed. If the player crafts every item from the Bunny Day Series by (or during) Bunny Day, Zipper will reward them with a special prize: the DIY recipe for a Wobbling Zipper Toy.
