Cube (ビス, Vis) is a lazy, penguin villager in the Animal Crossing series who first appears in Animal Crossing. His English name is possibly taken from the Nintendo GameCube, the console on which his makes first appearance in the West, although he may alternatively be named after ice cubes. His Japanese name, Vis, which is French for screw, is likely a reference to his unique screw-like eyes.
Appearance
Cube is a black and white Emperor Penguin with yellow-orange cheeks and a large beak. His flippers, back, and part of his neck are turquoise blue. His head is a glossy black and his stomach is polished white. Cube has large white eyes with black, cross-shaped pupils, resembling screws or possibly even the directional-pad of a Nintendo controller. In Doubutsu no Mori Cube wears a N Logo Shirt, and in Doubutsu no Mori+ and Animal Crossing he wears a G Logo Shirt, representing the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo GameCube respectively. In later games, Cube no longer references Nintendo's consoles, and simply wears a Big Dot Shirt instead.
Personality
Below is a brief description of the lazy personality. For more information, click here.
Cube has a friendly, laid-back personality who likes and frequently talks about food. As a lazy villager, Cube will not get on too well with snooty or jock villagers because they will not understand his lifestyle, which is a love of food and a relaxing, chilled outlook on life. He will also ask snooty villagers about their dinner plans, giving them ideas for their dinner and then dropping hints that he will be coming to eat. He gets along with normal, peppy, and other lazy villagers, who are open-minded about other villagers' personalities.
House
Cube's house is mostly robot themed. He has a Red Snapper fish in a tank, which he may refuse to part with during Flea Markets. If Cube has a stereo in his home, it will play "K.K. Technopop." He has the Mod Wall and Diner Tile.
