The Moving Painting is one of the pieces of artwork available in the Animal Crossing series games. This piece is based on the 1486 work "The Birth of Venus" by Italian painter Sandro Botticelli.
A work from the renaissance, Bottecelli's The Birth of Venus is interpreted as a homage to the female form. The focus of the painting is Venus, the Roman Goddess of beauty and love. Blown to the shore by Zephyrus, the god of the west wind, Venus is greeted by one of the Horae, a Goddess of the Seasons, who gives her a flowered cloak. Created in Florence, it remains there to this day, in the Uffizi Gallery.

Museum description | A painting of the Roman goddess Venus riding a scallop shell after being born in the ocean. The name Botticelli is said to actually be a nickname given to the artist's brother, who was built like a barrel. Why this nickname was transferred between siblings is a mystery lost to the ages. |
