Welcome to Nookipedia's Staff Application page! Nookipedia is always looking for active and experienced editors to become a part of its staff, who are granted a few extra tools to aid in the maintenance of the wiki. If you feel that you or another editor is ready to become a staff member or be promoted to higher staff position, please follow the application instructions below.

Requirements

To apply for staff, your account must meet the following requirements:

• Your account must be at least two months old.
• You must have made at least 200 mainspace edits since you joined. This only includes edits in the 'Article' namespace; other edits do not count.

While not required for an application, a verified email address is required before a user can be promoted to staff. If a verified email is not added within 30 days of a successful application, the application will be rendered null and the user will not become staff.

• For Administrators applying for Bureaucrat: While not required for an application, two-factor authentication is required before a user can be promoted to Bureaucrat. If it is not enabled within 30 days of a successful application, the application will be rendered null and the user will not be promoted.

Additionally, users cannot apply for staff or promotion if they have:

• Had an unsuccessful application in the past 60 days.
• Been promoted in the past 60 days.

Standards

Although not mandatory, it is also recommended that you show the following qualities and skills before applying, as this will give you a greater chance of success:

• Knowledge of editing Nookipedia and our policies.
• Willingness and ability to communicate with and help users in a courteous manner.
• Being fairly active.

Nominations

Any editor can nominate other users for promotions. If nominating another user, you should discuss the nomination first and get their permission. Additionally, the following rules also apply:

• Non-staff editors may only nominate users that meet the criteria detailed above (200 mainspace edits, two months since account creation, and no failed application in the last 60 days).
• Staff members may nominate any user for a staff position, regardless of whether they meet the criteria or not.

Remember, becoming a staff member isn't a big deal—no user is higher than another, and being a member of staff simply means that you have been trusted with extra tools to help out with.

Applying

Non-staff must first apply for the Patroller position. A user must first be a Patroller to apply for Administrator, and one must first be an Administrator to apply for Bureaucrat. Users who were previously Administrators or Bureaucrats and resigned from their position or were demoted due to inactivity may apply directly for their former position.

All valid applications are considered by the current staff, who offer comments and a Support/Oppose vote. Non-staff users can also provide input in the Comments section. Seven days after an application is submitted, a Director or Bureaucrat will determine the consensus of the vote (in order for an application to be successful, there must be at least 65% support). An application must receive at least five total votes before a consensus can be determined; if five votes have not been cast after seven days, the application will be extended for another seven.

If your application fails, don't be discouraged! Take any advice into mind, and re-apply (after at least 60 days) when you think you're ready again.
