Label reacting after the player has passed the Fashion Check with flying colors.

A fashion check is a side-quest that first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and returned in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. During a fashion check, the player is required to dress in a particular style.

Appearances[edit]

In New Leaf[edit]

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the fashion check is conducted by Gracie. The player must meet Gracie's requirement by midnight on whatever day she appears at the event plaza. She will only start appearing at the plaza once the player has obtained T.I.Y. and spent 70,000 Bells in the store.

There are a total of ten styles, which include Basic, Cute, Flashy, Historical, Iconic, Ornate, Modern, Rock and Roll, Official, and Sporty. It is mandatory for players to dress in a full outfit, or else they will not be accepted for a fashion check. A full outfit includes a shirt, pants, socks, shoes, and an accessory. If the player comes without one of these, Gracie will turn them away and tell them to come back when they are ready.

Players will pass the fashion check as long as they wear enough clothes that match the theme and none that clash with the theme. When a player passes the fashion check, they are usually rewarded with a piece of furniture or clothing, usually those which are exclusive to Gracie's store, GracieGrace. If players manage to pass the fashion check four times, Gracie will open GracieGrace in the player's town on the third floor of the T&T Emporium. Completing these fashion checks is therefore a requirement to obtain T&T Emporium.

Combinations[edit]

To pass a fashion check, the player may not wear clothes that clash with Gracie's specified theme. The table below shows which themes may and may not be mixed together:

In New Horizons[edit]

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the fashion check is conducted by Label, who has become an independent fashion designer. She will start appearing once the Resident Representative has built the Able Sisters store, and may stand in the plaza in front of the Resident Services building on random weekdays.

There are a total of eleven themes in New Horizons:

Unlike in New Leaf, themes do not clash. Label will give the player a piece of clothing that fits the requested theme, to offer some coordination ideas. The item is the player's to keep and is not required to wear for the check. At least two items must be worn (top and bottoms). If the player fails, this will lead to Label getting angry at him/her for not wearing anything especially the requested theme.

Once a full outfit of the chosen theme is worn, the player will be mailed up to two Tailors Tickets, each of which can be used as a coupon to get a single clothing item worth up to 3,000 Bells from Able Sisters. Unlike in New Leaf, repeated successes will not lead to a store being opened; instead, after a successful fashion check, along with the Tailor Ticket, the player is given an article of clothing from the Labelle clothing label, which is also then added to the daily rotation of items which can be purchased at Able Sisters.

Evaluation[edit]

Label's evaluation is based on the number of items of said theme worn. Even if no item that fits the theme is worn, the player will receive one Tailors ticket.

Evaluation Number of items that fit the theme Reward
Great 3+ 1 item from the Labelle line
2 Tailors Tickets
Good 2 1 item from the Labelle line
1 Tailors Ticket
Normal 1 1 Tailors Ticket
Not great 0 1 Tailors Ticket
