Egbert (しもやけ, Shimoyake) is a lazy, chicken villager in the Animal Crossing series who has appeared in every game to date. His name is a combination of egg, the thing his species lays; and the name "Bert", a surname of "Robert". His Japanese name can mean "chilblains". Egbert's picture quote in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which is "You gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet", means that you cannot have success without loss.

Appearance

Egbert is a yellow chicken with striped, orange legs. He has a short orange beak and has black rings under his eyes, which give him a tired appearance. His comb is red. He has a slightly dazed expression on his face. His initial shirt is the Swell shirt.

As a lazy villager, Egbert will be easy to get along with due to his laid back lifestyle. Like all lazy villagers, he shares an interest in food and relaxing. He will enjoy partaking in the usual hobbies, usually for relaxing reasons or for food (fishing). He will get along well with other villager types such as the normal villagers who act as a mother or elder sister figure and peppy villagers who appear to be around the same age. He also gets along easily with smug and uchi villagers, and sometimes cranky villagers as well. He may offend or confuse jock villagers, who have a conflicting lifestyle of exercise and fitness, who do not understand the reason behind the lazy lifestyle choice. Snooty villagers won't get along with him because of him constantly bringing up food in his conversations with them.

House

Egbert's initial house has a mosaic wall and blue floor, a cream sofa, 2 gyroids, and several items from the robo set. His stereo plays K.K. Technopop.
