A wet suit is a clothing item introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It allows the player to go swimming in the sea and catch sea creatures.
Wet suits, along with diving and sea creatures, were added in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in Wave 1 of the Free Summer Update.
Usage[edit]
Players can enter the sea by pressing "A" while adjacent to it. To swim faster, players must tap "A" quickly. Players can dive with "Y" and move while underwater with "A". Once players have touched a dark spot in the water, they will catch it and reveal what it is. Players cannot stay underwater for long, but the longer they are underwater the faster they move.
Players can also leap from cliffs and into the sand or the sea by standing near the cliff and pressing "A".
Players cannot wear other clothes while they are wearing a wet suit; only shoes, headwear and accessories remain visible. Other clothing articles remain worn under the wet suit, but cannot be seen nor removed until the wet suit is removed.
The same rules apply in New Horizons, and the player is now able to swim automatically by pressing and holding the A button, albeit slightly slower than by tapping the A button.
Players cannot enter the Able Sisters changing room while wearing a wet suit or save one to a slot on a wand.
Obtaining[edit]
In New Leaf[edit]
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, wet suits come in nine patterns and are obtainable only on Tortimer Island in exchange for 40 medals. Along with several other tools, a rental wet suit is available while the player is on the island.

In Pocket Camp[edit]
While swimming and wet suits do not exist in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, the fish-logo diving suit dress resembles a wet suit.

Trivia[edit]
- If the player gets out of the water at night in New Leaf, they will shiver.
- If the player creates a save file after Wave 1 of the Summer Update in New Horizons, a wet suit is able to be bought from Tommy on the first proper day, and the player is able to access the places usually inaccessible at that point, even before Blathers gives them the recipe for the vaulting pole.
- In New Horizons, if the player jumps into the ocean from the Airport dock, the Pier, a portruding landmass or a flat rocky surface, they will stop in their tracks and perform a somewhat careful jump into the ocean. However, if the player is running as they jump, they will perform a front-flip jump instead. The animation for entering the ocean from a beach stays the same regardless of whether the player is running or not.
Notes[edit]
- ↑ Re-Tail sell price; if item can be sold at Timmy and Tommy's store, it is 80% of the sell price; if item can be sold to Leila at Tortimer Island, it is 5% of the sell price.
