We're glad you've taken the step to create an account and edit our wiki! With an account you'll now be able to easily edit pages, participate in discussions, watch pages, track your edits, and have access to additional editing tools. You can also create and edit your own user page.

If you intend to continue editing, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Read our wiki's general use and editing, and privacy policies.
  • Preview your changes before saving them to avoid the need for making corrections afterwards.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes instead of undoing or reinstating changes repeatedly without discussion.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This code will automatically leave your name and a timestamp.

You can find editing tutorials and further information about our policies on the help pages.

Where to start? Check out the The Roost for the latest discussions, or consult the to-do list on the Main Page to see tasks that need to be worked on.
Questions? Feel free to ask a member of staff directly, post your question on the The Roost talk page, or ask about it on our Discord icon Discord server. We're always happy to help!
Thank you for your contributions, and have a great time! -- Nookipedia Staff

Grammarly[edit]

Try to avoid using grammarly to fix articles. It tends to introduce errors or make unnecessary changes. I started glossing through some of the changes you made with grammarly, and I've already noticed several mistakes it has made:

  • In this edit, it changed "ending" to "ends," incorrectly completely changing the intended meaning.
    • In the same edit above, it changed the grammar for a reference. You must not edit the grammar of a reference, as it must retain the original quotation without changes.
    • In the same edit above, it changed "in boxes," the intended meaning and an actual term used by the AC community, to "inboxes."
    • In the same edit above, it changed "joke" to "jokes," which is incorrect.
  • In this edit, it changed "through" to "though," which is incorrect.

It's okay to use spellcheck, but please don't trust grammarly blindly. HylianAngel (talk) 15:19, May 25, 2022 (EDT)

Is QuillBot a good alternative to grammarly? Sawfly12 (talk) 10:02, June 2, 2022 (EDT)
Programs that automatically correct grammatical errors will make mistakes, whether it's Grammarly or QuillBot. It's advised that you manually review your changes using human judgement rather than passing this on to a program that can make unreliable or incorrect changes (even spellcheck will sometimes say there is a grammatical error when it's a typo-free passage). Text you submit to the wiki should be written by you, and this is described before you save any edit. If spellcheck/Grammarly/Quillbot catches a clear spelling error, or if you see a spelling error yourself, you should fix it. But earlier you were submitting swathes of text that were incorrect, like changing multiple characters' Happy Home Designer quotes (even though this is typo-free text lifted from the game itself), capitalizing the word museum (which is not a proper noun in the Animal Crossing series), changing "shadow size" to shadow side" (in reference to fish sizes, an in-game mechanic), etc. I have to advise against using any program because these types of edits are poor and were not being double-checked.
